2011/12 Australian Summer Of Cricket (*SPOILERS*)

Ok, so SA topped the table...but they were all out for 285. Tassie were 4/285 in equal time. Surely Tassie should have won the ODI Domestic cup?!?

Really!?!? The rule has been the same for the past 30+ years... Get over it! The rules have ALWAYS been there the same as they were last night!! SA didn't win the match because it home team, the match was a tie! We won the comp because we earnt top spot in turn earning the home final!! Can't change the rules just to suite yourself!!!! Tasmania choked, simple as that, nothing more nothing less... As for the whole amounts of wickets CRAP, it has NEVER been used in cricket ever before!!!! Being only 3 wickets down in the last 3 or so overs and not making the runs is a massive choke!!!! SA were the best one day side all season and we won the comp because of that!!! We have the cup an that's the end of it!! Sick to death of all the whining, bitching and sore losers that have nothing better to do!!! We haven't enjoyed anything cricket wise for years in SA and when we finally win something that we DESERVED people can't except it!!! We played and won to the rules simple as that!!! Go Redbacks!!!!!!!!

LOL - I wasn't having a go about SA.

But I guess they "won" a tied match on technicality.

And I guess, really, when you think about it, SA do have their best squad available at all times, unlike NSW who have to play their 3rd XI each match. :-)

No Dan Christian was a big out for us. NSW? That's what happens when there's a biased selection policy for the Australian sides. The game was tied, no one won it. But the Redbacks won the comp. not technicality, the rules have been there for a long time, just people get all sooky la la when it goes against them or their thinking.....

The Redbacks won the comp, but the second placed team earns the right to challenge them for the title. Therefore in the event of a draw the title reverts back to the first placed team.

Mate...I wasn't even sooking.

Seriously...I haven't watched the Dom ODI since the good old ING Cup days because its not even on Ch 9 anymore.

But good on SA for winning, wasn't having a go at them at all...at first.

I just mentioned that it was a tied match, but SA had lost all their wickets in 50 overs getting their score. Tassie lost only 4 getting the same score, in the same over allotment.

But biased selection policy? Who would you put in from SA over a NSW player at the moment?

And just for chuckles:

What do you call a South Australian playing Sheffield Shield? A Victorian.
What do you can a South Australian playing for Australia? A New South Welshman.

Now if that doesn't tickle your funny bone, I don't know what will.

yeah,i was more commenting on the mechanics of the comp than the two teams involved. seriously, i go for nsw, i've got better things to do than side with tassie or sa

I wasn't really referring to you as sooking, but between here, the CA facebook page and a couple of other forums there are so many people just bitching and whining cos they can.... Most are non tasmanian just looking for something to do!

As for the NSW selections over SA..... Maybe not now but last season, if picking the team on form nt anything else like it should be, I would have had Klinger in their instead of Hughes and I would also have had Christian in there as an All rounder, maybe at M. Hussey's expense.... But of course a season changes things!

The jokes made me chuckle, but it's a pretty well known fact, for years, that if you play for NSW then thats the first leg up on other states you have on getting into the Aussie XI! ;)

It has been used for years in English domestic cricket, and even once famously in an ODI during the '89 Ashes Tour when Ian Healy attempted to run a single having torn his hamstring :D

Wow... It's been used once in how many years of international cricket? And it's only been used in English Domestic cricket....

So in other words you and many others want the rules in AUSTRALIAN domestic cricket to be changed to suite or as they go.... Have fun with that.

I heard this the other day, but is True?

Dan Christian may move to the Bulls?

Wouldn't surprise me... While we have got a bad habit of trying to rehash washed up players from othe states, we tend to let good players go too easy as well! I must admit though I read the paper everyday ad like to think I keep up with local teams fairly well in most sports and haven't seen anything about it at all!

Pretty Sure i heard in On Channel 9 During one of the Odi's

Terrific win by the Aussies, the Tri Series has been really enjoyable so far I reckon. With India out of finals contention barring some kind of miracle, it is worth looking at the international scores on this tour of their two big batting stars, Tendulkar and Sehwag - who at times have looked disinterested and lazy.

Tendulkar
73 & 32, 41 & 80, 15 & 8, 25 & 13, 2, 48, 15, 3, 22, 14

391 runs @ 27.93

Sehwag
67 & 7, 30 & 4, 0 & 10, 18 & 62, 4, 23, 10, 20, 0, 5

260 runs @ 18.57

Not one century between them in 28 completed international innings on tour!

Amazing Matt - would have been given very juicy odds at the start of the tour that those 2 would go home without a century.

You would expect some very hard questions to be asked of the Indians when they get home after being clean swept in the Test series and not making the final of the ODIs....perhaps they only care about 20/20 after all.

The team that finishes on top gets the home final, i think thats fair and should stay, great reward for a great season, but then to also be awarded the win for a drawn match is just plain stupid. its one of those rules that untill it happens wont be looked at, well its happened so now needs reviewing.

on another note, well done aussies. the real test will be sri lanka in the finals. india have been a joke this summer.
