Cards in Vic/Melbourne?

Hey everyone,

My name is Tom/Cap, whatever you feel comfortable with. I'm new here (I posted this in the intros part also)

I'm right into basketball, but have never collected cards.
I live in Gippsland (1.5 hours east of Melbourne).

I'm trying to get into card collecting, but it's near impossible to find cards around here.

Wondering if I could get some pro tips on where to find basketball cards in Victoria/Australia?

Looking for packs/boxes.

I'll post this in general as well, in case it doesn't get hits.

Try Malcolm at Dandenong market on Tuesdays,Fridays and Saturdays. Frequently getting in stock, more boxes and packs than single cards but has a good variety of stock at fair prices. There's only two guys at the market that stock cards, the other deals only with AFL so you cant miss him. Sells lots collector toys as well so you cant miss his shop.

Not been to Dandenong market before, so should be good.


Any tips on places you can buy from online? The eBay range seems somewhat limited. I can't find any cards for the 11-12 season?

I just discovered box breaks last night and ended up awake til 3am on a work night watching the vids haha

@ozguy - Live in Churchill, work in Traralgon. You nearby?
I've not heard of the caribean gardens.
Looking forward to a road trip to dandy, might run into there one time haha
 
carib gardens is in rowville just down the road from dandenong. Sundays is your best bet, there are two guys there that deal with NBA. Malcolm who also deals at Dandenong and Harry.

Yeah mate, i live in Moe and work in Warragul. Dandy market or caribean gardans will be your best shot at buying in person.

I'm in Traralgon and currently have some older 90's boxes.....I sometimes have current 2010/11/12 blaster boxes.....but don't have any in stock at the moment. Check out what i have in my Ebay store! (Happy for you to pick up as well!!)

I think there has only been one product released so far for this 11/12 season; delayed by the long lockout.
 
Malcolm at the dandenong/caribbean markets is a good friend of mine and will look after you on prices...just tell him that you are on ozcard and know a few of us and will be all good...

h ok, so cards are released post season commencement then? Sorry, real rookie. I'd have thought it would be sorted prior to the season starting.

I did see that 11/12 box set that had Jordan in his North Carolina uniform. Worth getting that anyone reckon?
 
I think you'll find this years releases were delayed by the lockout, which gave card companies no time to get new products signed etc. In any normal season new products would be out much earlier...

11/12 SPA....look good but because UD don't have any NBA rights, all players are in college uniforms and you can get a lot of no name autos. But on the other you can pull MJ and LeBron autos, and UNC floorboard cards. And base set look nice. I think the it's worth getting, if you don' mind the college unis.

Oh shit, UD don't have rights???
What's the brand to go then - I've seen a lot of those panini ones around. Is that what I should be chasing?
