Totally Certified Green hype.

as am i on my Griffin mate

think how I feel... I sold lebron, blake and westbrook about 2 weeks too early ($600 for all 3 :(). let that be a lesson to everyone - stick to your guns and never listen and give in to ****ers thinking they know everything about cards. i panicked and just sold so I wouldn't get hassled on ebay anymore. literally 10 messages a day saying my prices were unrealistic and that i was a lowlife scum, even though the same *****s wanted to buy the cards

also sold/gave away about 10 others on the low side of current prices. but it was to a guy who will never sell it, so that was ok

moral of the story. hype or not, it's the current price - so cash in if you think it won't last. but to say it's not worth that much doesn't really make sense, since it obviously is worth that much

Well ill fess up......I sold my Nash green auto #/5 to a member here (who is the number 1 Nash collector) for what i paid....$100.

I know it wont be sold and it helped out a fellow collector so I really dont care, but seeing one on ebay for $599 BIN now stings a little ...LOL.

same here matt

i am 99% sure the lebron, blake and westy i sold to china won't see the day of light anytime soon - since i've been asked to broker (i offer free brokerage if anyone's interested ) a deal to get it back and the money thrown at the lebron is pretty nuts, yet he won't budge. i feel more comforted by that

I've had a bad run on cashing in too early. Especially with Mr Rubio! F#ck he is really playing some good ball and his prices are nuts! I probably missed out on $100 all together. But thats how the hobby goes! God I hate hypes!

and you were there trying to skim a few bucks off me when i sold to you for like $20 - kidding  yeh when things jump it jumps. same thing with blake griffin last year (as I recall you got some bargains off me also, but sold a tad too early yourself)

You didn't sell me anything Rubio bro. I offered to trade you the TT rookie auto for a couple certified rookie auto's I needed but I already had them. Luckily the only Blake thing I purchased from you was a NT jersey (Which I made $15 off ;)). Kinda spewing I didn't buy the classics auto off you for $60 though

i think i sold abs mem blake rc auto /100 auto to you a few months b4 he took off :)
anyway you just never know with these cards. for each ricky and blake there are a hundred fryes, randolphs and blairs

These are nice looking cards no doubt. The greens I can sort of understand because all of them are #/5 but the golds? Cmon man. Seeing the prices of them are crazy. Nothing can replace the PMG's. Those cards are just awesome. But if these cards keep these kind of prices (I doubt it) then that would be a frustrating thing for set collectors, all made by a little bit of hype from forums.

And this kind of thing really hurts young collectors like myself (14 yrs old) because I love these cards but I can't spend this amount of cards, which is a shame. I'd love to get awesome looking cards like these but with these ridiculous prices. Hopefully things like this don't happen often.

Yeah mate can really see it as a shame, was actually collecting the set of golds and had 15 of them before the price just went crazy. I personally dont think theyre the new PMG's but alot of people think so, so it my eyes was time to sell. Can understand where your coming from Luke as a young collector, when I was first started collecting I could barely afford 2 packs a week, was over the moon to pull any Jordan.

Just wait and see if the storm settles and prices come down again, which I reckon they will when the fleer retro come out with real pmgs in it.

Gone are the days that card collecting was a kids hobby. The most I have spent on 1 card is $90. Card collecting is now very much an adults hobby. It's no longer go around swapping cards at school it's now bust a $500 box pull a card and put it on ebay. When would a kid be able to bust a box of NT? When would a kid be able to buy a PMG? A certified green? A MJ auto? A logoman?

The hobby is ridiculous. Sure we are able to pickup some nice cards but not the one's we want! They are so over priced and out of our range.

Agree with you there Jack. We aren't Rich we have certain budgets and sometimes we bust some nice cards and its not even players people want to trade for which makes it hard. Recently i ve spent quite a bit because of the holidays but when it ends there won't be much money to spend. The Most i have ever spent on a Card was about a week ago which was $65 to some of you older guys it means probably around $30 but for us its about $150.

Now days even if you want get a Cheap auto of a Good Player it can cost around the same price as a box. Which is what i do even if it costs me a box at least you get that Nice card but worst is when they die of or they have bad run the cards drop a lot which means you don't value for money at all. Pretty Hard Being Young Collectors These days:(

You've got something wrong there. Card collecting WAS a kid's hobby because there were no such things as 1/1s, printing plates, autos and even GUs. When the first GUs came out they were very expensive too and would've been out of your reach as well. Card collecting for a kid should just be about completing base sets and maybe insert sets. In that aspect, it's still the same today as it was 20 years ago. Who doesn't want a Blake Griffin Rookie Logoman Auto 1/1?

Thats basicly what I said.

Your kidding though? So as a kid I should restrict myself to completing a base set? This is my point, there shouldn't be 1,000,000 1/1's, There shouldn't be mass amounts of GU's produced. GU's should be sought after. Nobody wants them now which is the reason auto's and inserts (Nice looking one's) sell for so much. And are out of kids price ranges.

Tell me one product from the last 10 years that Panini or Upper Deck or even topps for that matter haven't inserted 1,000s of GU's into their product? This is why the AFL market is so popular. Select has played their cards well they don't over produce auto's or GU's so they are sought after. People don't spend $800+ on an insert because there are other quality cards which are affordable (With the triple brownlow sig and captain sig out of the equation). Yet you can still pickup an auto if you are a kid because you can bust that pack for $3!
