Michael Jordan Rookie - I want to get it graded

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that it appears to be real but heavily trimmed......to cover up poor centering, edges and corners. I don't believe it would be worth grading, sorry.

Yep. Definately looks small. Can you measure the card and post the measurements?

I can, but not right now, am on holidays and have 4 kids jumping on me to take them to the park... I will try and do this a little later.

I know remember why I didn't initially post pictures, because it turns into a Real or Fake debate. I was wanting to find out about grading, have done that, but still I will do the measurements when I can.

Note to self: Next time don't mention which card you want to get graded lol

It's more the fact it's been trimmed ALOT! Real or fake.... IMO it's not a card that would fetch anywhere near what it should with those borders.... If it's never going to leave you, then no worries at all.

Any card thats been trimmed or 'altered' isnt woth grading (regardless if its fake or real)..
easiest way to find out if its trimmed? place it next to or on top another card to see the difference in size

I think your looking at it wrong. No matter what the card was most would tell you the same based on those pictures. We are just trying to save you the hassel of sending it in if not necessary.

Looking at it wrong? Do you know what "lol" means? :)

From my initial post last year, I got requests to see the card, and since posting it has started the ongoing discussion.

My mind about whether to send the card for grading was decided after the first few responces, therefore not sure what the following posts are trying to achieve.

I will measure the card, I will let you know when I do.

It is funny really, people ask me why I want to get it graded, I say one of the reasons is so I don't have to justify what it is. Then people say don't bother or that is not a reson to get it graded and proceed to tell me they think it is a fake... Hence the exact reason I wanted to get it graded lol What is the saying "You are damned if you do and damned if you don't"

I must admit the cut down thing is something I haven't heard before, and I am keen to measure it. Have to wait till kids are in bed.

I just measured the card, it was like handling explosives, I even made the kids stay in their rooms while I did it. lol

From side to side it measured 63mm (2.48"), top to bottom was just under 89mm (3.50")

Card seems to be the right size???

I did a rough measurement of the border too, left had side is just under 4mm and right hand side is about 2.5mm. I think the perspex might of distorted it a little, as it is 10mm thick on top of the card.

The card seems about the right size. Ideally it should be 2.5" (64mm) x 3.5" (89mm). Unfortunately I am not home so can't measure all my 86-87 fleer to see if they are all exactly that or if some are out by a millimeter.

The boarder measurements seem about right. Through the perspex it appears to be like 2mm and 1.5mm.

I will be interested to see what others say.

After seeing the actual measurements it does sound to be pretty spot on. As for grading, not sure if i could handle sending an MJ RC away as the fear of having it swapped for a fake somewhere along the line would be too much for me.

Hey Glayam,

Just my 2 cents.....for your own piece of mind get the darn thing graded, keep an eye out for group submissions on here that can save you money. PSA or BGS it doesnt matter IMO. I have had plenty of cards graded, as part of a group on here and on my own and never had a problem. Have had a MJ RC graded too. I know there are horror stories that we hear of but that's always going to be the case with anything, at the end of the day you are sending the card to another country and trusting postal systems.

Even if the card is never for sale, there's nothing like the protection of having it encased.

Just my 2 cents.

I can't send it away... can't take the risk.

I almost forgot about this thread haha.

so what did you end up doing mate?

Thanks for the advice, I don't think this card is something I will part with so no point in taking the risk.
