This is exactly why fans shouldn't be allowed to vote... it's a frieken ALL STAR game. So you know, the people who are playing like ALL STARS should be getting in. But there's always some BS voting (in all sports) that allow a more popular person to get in over a more deserving.

I know you guys aren't going to change anything by voting for this guy, but it kinda supports my point. I have hated this voting system for many years because I've seen much better players miss out to those that ignorant (biased) fans like more.

Graeme isn't All Star weekend FOR the fans? So the fans can see who they want? What is an ALL STAR per se?
I just look at it as a fun weekend, NBA players getting together, playing no D until if it's close in the 4th qtr, some 3pt shooting, some dunks, some "skills".

If they didn't want fans to vote and get involved then they should just make it selected by coaches and what, guys in suits? BORING!!!!!!!!

Yao Ming wasn't an All Star by your definition but his fans wanted to see him play so he got in (by sheer numbers of votes ) I don't think the odd guy here and there is going to make a difference, they all have to share the minutes anyway. The more hype and fun the better I say!

I'd say they probably feel a bit peeved, especially when somebody less deserving makes it. The fans want to see him limp around in the game on crutches?

I think the commentators still talk sometimes like "he's playing great this year, should be an all star" or "deserves to be an all star" but they know that fans vote for who they wanna see play, who will make some highlights, who this could be their last year so try and get them in etc etc. I hear what you're saying though, I don't think I've seen it that way since the late 90's or early 00's though.

On another note, the nickname White Mamba is absolutely putrid not a fan. Every time I see him I think of that Michael Rappaport guy

We're not "wasting a vote" as Scalabrine has to be voted for as a "write-in vote" and if I wasn't voting for Scal there I wouldn't be voting for anyone there. Guess we're not allowed to have any fun on Graeme's watch!

But doesn't your 'write-in' vote override a vote for another player in one of the positions? That's the only reason I'm upset. If you can vote for the players AND a write-in (which seems like a waste but if it works...) then I have no problem with it.

AFAIK it doesn't.... it allows me to select all 10 players and then also select the write-in vote. Otherwise if it didn't I wouldn't be voting for him every time lol

What's the point of voting for like LeBron, Kobe etc. Everyone know's there going to get in. And if Amar'e gets in as a starter, I won't be happy. He hasn't played like an all-star and he's been hurt.
