2011/12 Australian Summer Of Cricket (*SPOILERS*)

I'm still here...but Punter certainly redeemed himself didn't he?

My dinner is humble pie.

As for Clarkey...have always loved him. Taking Dean Jones' high score against India made my day.

Ricky Ponting did great today so happy he did well :)

Clarkey found a way to to do better and hit TOP gear. Amazing Innings right 251 Not Out hoping he really goes on to a big big Score. Over 300!

I was making the point that Don Bradman was a LEGEND in his playing days...an absolute LEGEND!

But he still had to retire.

Ponting will too. Let's call this a late flourish. If he gets through the next couple of Tests, then maybe West Indies...well, good. He will be a legend too.

I am a bowling man. I love fast bowlers. But often I am flabbergasted they are quickly axed whilst batsmen get forever before they go. Anyway...no ill will to Ponting and Hussey, my opinion was merely they were old, they were past it and should go. I have been proven wrong. I also didn't like Hughes...and wanted Warner, Marsh and Kawaja. Kawaja has fallen aside, Marsh is on an average of 1 for this current series and Warner looks like he just can't help himself.

They look horrendous.

Lazy. Really lazy. And they looked shot at 10.30am this morning when they should be fresh. MS Dhoni is a terrible captain with his field. Something looks amiss in that camp.

Is it just me or does India look really flat and sloppy in the field, somewhat defeated already?

Yeh, I know what you mean Chris but it will be sad for me when Ponting goes :( But at least the Future of Australian Cricket is really bright. India need an all-rounder like Shane Watson and Need to Drop Gambhir and bring Rohit Sharma in.

Is it me or do the Side screens in Test Matches Need to be Wider!

When Ponting retires, it formally ends any lingering dreams I had of doffing the Baggy Green cap as I will be officially too old, LOL.

Ponting has been a big part of my cricketing life.

I had Border...I had S Waugh...I had Warne and McGrath...I had Gilly... the days these men retired were truly sad days (for cricket fans). As will Punter's retirement be it sooner or later. As a batsman, he is one of the best ever. I never wanted to see him linger on as a ghost of himself fading in to the ether. This ton showed he still has class and I was hasty in calling for his axing. His (and his wife's) interviews were reminders that true champions should never be written off. This ton lets him decide his fate I guess. If he goes on, he must go on fighting and scoring. Good for us if he does. And its not like there is a batsman scoring tons to take his spot anyway.

Now if we could only get Cummins fit, slot him in the side...

India need to ask themselves some tough questions in order of : Laxman, Dravid, Tendulkar... you seriously don't want your 3-4-5 retiring within in cooee of each other.

Khan and Sharma are really good bowlers but need a tough coach in their ear.

And a fielding coach...with no excuses. Build a tight knit fielding unit who is determined to stop singles, stop 4s and chase the ball from ball 1 to ball 540 and you'll be fine.

I think what is making the cricket so good this summer are the pitches. There is something in it for everyone. But the SCG pitch does seem to have turned in to a road. That said, India fabricated 3 chances today. One when Punter ran on 99 and he was not run out. Two when Punter was out. Three when Pup could have been C&B. There was a patch of classy fast bowling but not enough to catch the edge, and lady luck was truly on the Aussies side too.

Day 3 will be interesting.

Jeez the Australia T20 Captain has been on Fire With the Bat in the Big Bash:whistle:

Game 1: 1 Run
Game 2: 2 Runs
Game 3: 3 Runs
Game 4: 1 Run

4 Games and a Total Of = 7 Runs at an Average of 1.75:lol:

when was the last time he scored any runs in any form of cricket? his average in all forms of the game over the past 2 years would be terrible. not much of a big hitter anymore.

clarke to go for 300 and huss to push for 100, should be a good morning of cricket.

There is still 2 Days after today, so i don't see why he should declare yet. They will probably bat until the last session and then Declare.

opps, i said 1 1/2, but if he gets 300 then declares then 2 1/2 days is heaps of time. hey dalbs, he just answered his critics and still people find something to have a go at him about, dont you think hes doing enough? no pleasing some people lol

He wants to ensure Australia doesnt have to bat AT ALL on the last day on a wearing SCG pitch. Get 500 or so in front, and then have 2 days to have a crack at India.

After they've been in the field for 2 days chasing leather , they won't be much in the mood for batting at all let alone making 500 just to make Australia bat again. By continuing to bat, Clarke is not just trying to put them away, he is trying to bury them and then dance and spit on their grave.

There's still 2 tests after this and won't be doing much for confidence for India.

314 to Clarke and still going, lead of 500 would probably be the target, no reason India won't make a decent score in the 2nd innings, must be a decent pitch for 3 century makers in one innings.
