2011/12 Australian Summer Of Cricket (*SPOILERS*)

Less Than 3 Overs Bowled

Australia 2/11

Warner Out for 8 and Marsh Out for a Golden Duck!

Disappointed, as a West Aussie i wanted to watch Shaun Marsh Bat:(

will marsh get dropped or will he get 100 chances like phillip hughes did???

I love it, Baggy greens are the gift that keeps giving, no need to earn them - Get one, even if you do crap, if your a batsmen you'll get a dozen guaranteed.

Give Dan Christian a go, f**k even Cameron bloody white has baggy greens in his closet and he's about as rubbish as a test cricketer can get

Why don't you give it a go yourself, champ? Seem to be an expert on everyone and everything.

Anyone know why the o'reilly stand is almost empty? Looks weird.....lots of people elsewhere and it's lucky to have a couple of hundred in it?

Shaun Marsh is a good Cricketer and Way better than Philip Hughes. He was probably one of the More reliable Batsman during the Sri Lankan Test Series and South African Test Series. I want Dan Christian to make his debut (I like him a lot) but i'm not surprise that he wasn't even named in the 12 or 13 man Squad for this Test Match. I went to watch the Recent Big Bash side which was the Scorchers vs Heat were he Bowled well but when he Batted he hit a scoop shot for 4 then tried it the next ball and almost got but instead of being sensible he kept on practicing the Scoop shot and then got Cleanly bowled trying to play the Scoop Shot again. It may be a different format but it also mean being Sensible about it. But i would definitely like to see Dan Christian to make his Debut this Series especially with Watson being Injured but i DON'T see why we have to keep changing a winning formula.

I love this argument, "shouldn't criticize because you couldn't do better".

So by your argument "champ", if I get my bathroom tiled and the tiler does a **** job I should just be happy because I don't know how to tile? Awesome, thanks "champ"!

SHould we not say anything about politicians either because 99% of us could never get into politics?

I like Shaun Marsh, he deserves more chances, my comment was more aimed at the Phil Hughes failure which lasted over a year.

Cam White was always going to be a rubbish test cricketer no matter which way you looked at it.

But yes, if players in our cricket/footy/whatever teams are crap we should just shut up and suck it in because we couldn't do it.

This is why these people are paid the money they are, to PERFORM... The money is in the game because people watch it, go to the game, care and have an opinion - I am happy to have a bit a friendly banter about sports with someone who has a passionate opinion, even if it differs to mine but the argument of "shut up if you can't do it any better" is plain stupid

Jonathon, I would suggest that 90% of your cricket posts contain spiteful, dismissive comments about players - there is no substance to anything you say.

The comparison between a tiler/politician and sportsperson shows how little thought you have put into the argument/justification. A tiler and a politician are in complete control of their decisions and actions and are not required to make mental and physical judgements in a split second, as a sportsperson is.

So what is the solution for the Australian team then? Revolving door selection policy? One of the reasons that the current team is exciting to follow is because you never know what you are going to get

A final thought: if someone posted a similar critique about your work performance, would you be happy? All I am saying is that it is far easier to stand back and criticise when you have absolutely no comprehension of what is involved in the activity itself.

Nope, professional sportsmen are PAID to PERFORM, not carried for 12 months at a time

But for arguments sake We'll take into account mental and physical judgement's then what does that tell you about the batsmen? I get annoyed because they seem to have lost (or never had in some cases) the ability to "dig in" when required, Ed Cowan looks like he may be able to do it but he's in the minority. Our bowlers fight harder with the bat than the top order does!

Sure I'm a bit jaded in regarded to the Team, I am an Australian who loves cricket, I support the Australian because I am Australian, I am not a fan of many of the players who have been a part of that team for a while and I sure as hell are not a fan of the "boys club" that the team is (I do love all the young quicks tho). Marcus North is a hack that was given opportunity after opportunity and would always save his ass with ONE innings in 10 "but he could bowl" - LOL!, Hughes - The Same, Why was Katich axed again? his age? gimme a break - Clarkey didn't like him any more, the reverse is why Phil Hughes and North were given so long. I'm pissed that Dan Christian is the leading run scores in domestic first class cricket - OUR MAIN ALL ROUNDER IS INJURED!~and he still can't get a gig - What a slap in the face! Harsha is correct that we need an all rounder for balance, but the selectors and Clarkey don't want him. Did he do a "Fevola" with Lara or something?

Carry on though with your box of chocolates analogy, jeez, I'm glad every other team I follow does not subscribe to this

No wonder the captain of the under 16 Australian team quit the game to go to AFL, at least he will be judged purely on talent and performance there and not waiting for players to get year long auditions before he gets a shot regardless of what he does domestically

Good Day for Australia
