2011/12 Australian Summer Of Cricket (*SPOILERS*)

their very quiet aren't they!

Almost as quiet as the pro-review squad now that 3 Aussies have been saved by no review... As for the thing with Dravid being bowled off a no-ball: He walked straight away; what do you want him to do? Shake his head and keep walking after the umpire has called him back???

Speaking for myself, I'm only quiet as no further words are necessary. It's gratifying to see the refusal to adopt DRS may actually hurt India for a change

It would be better for all parties if umpiring mistakes were reduced and the only way to do that is to embrace some of the technology on offer!

OLD/USELESS, SHOULD-BE-DROPPED/RETIRED HACKS - 1
INDIA - 0

Wonder how Malcolm Conn's "worst Australian team in 25 years" is going now?

Also, full credit to the new selection panel - I was staggered that Ben Hilfenhaus was recalled to the team given that I have rarely been angrier with any Australian player than I was with him after the SCG Test last season. However, the selectors are prepared to reward players who work hard and he has clearly taken criticism on board.

The batting will sort itself out, I hope that the top six are retained for the SCG Test or at least until Shane Watson is fit to resume. Good thing we had Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey in the second innings though.....the blokes who are apparently "past it".

Oh, as for the Decision Review System - after all four innings of this Test I am even more adamant that the ICC should insist on its usage...in many ways they are doing India no favours anyway, those poor sods can hardly win a chook raffle outside India and need all the help they can get

Test 2 squads:

Australia: Michael Clarke (capt), Brad Haddin, Ed Cowan, Ryan Harris, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mike Hussey, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, James Pattinson, Ricky Ponting, Peter Siddle, David Warner (12th man to be named).

India: to be named.

i'll stop watching cricket altogether if brad haddin keeps getting a go a head of some new blood. get wade into the team, then when paine is injury free swap him and wade. cant believe haddin is still in the team, he's very luck paine got injured when he. not too sure harris should be playing, has he proven he can bowl all day yet since coming back from injury. its a bit of a gamble i think.

no mate, not quiet , just been watching the cricket . the pro review crowd are still here, just glad it cost the indians this time and not the aussies. at the end of the day the majority of cricket fans want drs review for the right result, not to see their particular nation win. yeah it was great that 3 aussies got saved but i personally would trade that to see ed cowan get a chance at a debut test century, but thats just me:whistle:

I have been on the Haddin, Hughes, Ponting and Hussey bandwagon.

I still believe Haddin should go. Batting like he's trying to peel potatoes and his keeping his adequate and dropping. Ponting and Hussey did enough to earn a reprieve to the end of the summer. They are still old. Hussey got runs, but I still think he was protecting himself and his 50.00 average. And if he got out three times in that innings, well, that tells you something too. Plus for the screamer he took, he missed one too. So even there. Ponting has dignity and class at the moment. I love the man, but all players get old. He saved the innings in Melbourne, but he is looking like Allan Border did in 1993-94. Capable of a decent score, but won't get you a big score. Scratches about, can get out early and cheaply, The sharpness is gone. Not to be slack to the guy, just how it is (or maybe as I see it). Would love to see him play forever, but then look at Dravid, Tendulkar and Laxman...37-38...wonderful bats, now in twilight nearing the end.

But all up, the batting for Australia has been nothing short of woeful. But then again, Sth Africa, NZ and India were in the same boat at various times. So who knows, maybe its just batting that's gone to the dogs...but if Siddle and Pattinson can graft 20-50 runs at a time, kinda makes a mockery of the batting methinks.

If it wasn't for the bowlers scoring runs and bowling with devilish skill, Australia would suffer. If Ed Cowan (very, very unlucky in 2nd innings - not wrong - I'd say he was out, just --- but when you consider Patto had Ashwin's stumps cart-wheeling up Haddin's arse in the first innings and was not given out...well...) can leave the ball wide of off then why the hell can't the others. Stoner Marsh just looked out of his depth too.

As for DRS, should be mandatory for ALL Tests. Don't care if it is used or not...but it should be available. And as for the possible wickets Australian weren't give, if India could be any more half-hearted in their appeals maybe they would get some. Plus you don't go begging and pleading and appealing for things an U7's player would be slapped for --- high, going down leg, no where near it. Puh-lease!!!

Good Start from Australia, Tendulkar and Kohli are starting to settle in. Good 1st Session and it should be a good day of play today.
