Yeah i think after the FA made such a fuss about Blatters racist comments they had to make an example of him. I agree though - its a bit harsh.

sure is some precedent. dicanio only got 11 games for pushing alcock. duncan ferguson got 12 matches and he was arrested and jailed for three months for assault afterwards.

I read earlier that John Terry hasn't been this nervous since Wayne Bridge pulled into his driveway half an hour early
^*SEGWAY*^
Speaking of Bridge, he has been linked with a loan move to Arsenal if Gibbs doesn't prove his fitness soon... No thanks, he was pretty poor at the Hammers, and has been training with Citys youth team since

how come terry's incident is being investigated by the filth, and suarez wasnt?
wenger's about a decade too late on bridge.
interesting to note, suarez is 1/4 'negrito'. and evra admits he called suarez 'the most objectionable term' there is in spanish. not sure what that is, but surely he should recieve a ban also?

Not sure. Maybe something to do with there being no evidence in the Suarez case at all, the FA just going on what Evra and Suarez said. Whereas the ob have video to look at in the Terry case.
I'm guessing though

interesting to hear mancini say bridge should leave and not be worried about his pay cheque. is he for real? thats how he got all his players in the first place. he goes on about how when youre young its not about money. fair enough (tho even thats debatable these days), but surely when youre nearing retirement it becomes more relevant?
its what players do. becks & henry for example. and drogba says hes going to whoever offers him the most. you cant tell me anelka's dream is to play in china. but he'll be on 175k a week.

landon donovan back at goodison. eligible jan. 4th. just a loan tho.

Can't really be bothered arguing about this but u might wanna take a look at what Mancini actually said about Bridge being motivated to play. He's not going to play for City anymore. He's basically training with the youth team for a truckload of money - he's done that all seaon now so he's saying why did he turn down Celtic in the offseason? Why did he turn down other offers? He should be playing somewhere. I think you've got him out of context Sgt Pepper. The guy's sitting on his arse. And before u all start in on u reap what u sow. He was a Hughes signing who once served a purpose but is nowhere near good enough now and needs to play somewhere else.

And oneil -****in hate all u like - the feeling's mutual.

No but I haven't made millions in my career and am now doing nothing for my pay. I have professional pride - Bridge needs to get some and go somewhere else....

Really - even if your career only has a couple years left and you still have to provide for yourself and your family for the next 50 years?

I dont blame any player for going after every cent they can get. They have a short window and a serious injury can end a career in a second.

Sorry for the hate on your team Alistair. Didnt mean to come off so harsh.

yeah, i read the interview, and as a football fan, im disappointed he hasnt left, but i do think its a little hypocritical of mancini to tell a player to jog on and not worry about the 50% pay cut hes bound to take.
if bridge wants to see out his contract training, thats his choice. dont agree with it, but im not a professional footballer. unfortunately. he turned down celtic because he can make more at city. simple as that. he knows he wont play, so its obviously a decision hes made.
i agree with mancini, but im not the one offering double what other teams do to get my players. fair enough, he didnt buy him, but when he was brought in he was still given a larger wage than other clubs wouldve spent.
also, as i hope you know, i dont hold city's money against them. i dont hold any clubs money against them, no matter how they got it. where do people think 'top clubs' come from? money.

Professional pride? He has a contract that he is honouring. How is that not professional?

/\/\ youre right, but i think he means pride in trying to be the best footballer he can be...?

terry in big trouble now. off to court he goes. i think he can kiss the england captaincy goodbye for good this time.
2 days ago, no player in england had ever been banned over racial comments. considering the history of racism in football over there, im pretty suprised.
wonder how long terry will get?

Come on now - 50 years?? Are his kids not gonna earn a living? Bridge has been an EPL player since 1998 - he will be a multi millionaire. He's been on the dougnut doing nothing for at least 6 months at I'd be guessing $50k a week. That's 1.3 million pounds - and that's just the last 6 months - surely he can go and play now.....as for a serious injruy - he'll have insurance - he can afford it... Look I don't hate the guy - I just think the comment from Mancini isn't far off the mark...

oneil - all good with the hate - I used to hate Chelsea when they took SWP off us - he was our best player by miles and they benched him during his prime....we all have our moments...

sgt Pepper - good points above - that's exactly what I meant...

All true but its pretty hypocritical to ask Bridge to eat 50% of his last contract when on the flip side they wont budge on letting Tevez go for less than what they want and say they will just leave him to rot on the bench.

Evra admitted that he doesn't think that Suarez is racist, Evra also admitted that he called Suarez a "racist" name, Suarez said he didn't here it, the 8 week ban is way over the top, for a term that the player is called by his own team mates day in day out and all of a sudden he takes offence to is a bit rich....

how come terry's incident is being investigated by the filth, and suarez wasnt?

/\/\ doesnt leave the FA with much room to budge. 8 games for suarez, means terry should be getting at absolute minimum the same amount. if theres any coherence to the decisions he'll get quite a few more.
evra should be banned for the same amount of time also. not saying suarez shouldnt have been punished, he did break the rules, just that the length of the ban is greater than some violent conduct charges that have been given. surely extenuating circumstances should come into it?
terry says hes not giving up the captaincy. this guy is some piece of work...
