Warney turning to the dark side, unlikely.

I apologise lads, went to Phuket for just under 3 weeks :) The amount of football there is amazing and i came back with a full suit case of football shirts

I'm sure they're all genuine too!!

City get Porto, the defending champs! Man we've had some doosie draws this yr...toughest UCL grouop, then get Arsenal away in the Carling cup - beat them so make the CC semis - we get Liverpool instead of Palace or some other crummy team. Get Man U in the FA Cup, and now this!

*spooky*

Gee thats overrated! Your nothing but haters.....

/\/\ thats not the point at all.
not saying he doesnt win. just bringing his actual managerial skills into question. getting given a dream team then spending as much as you want on proven world calss players isnt exactly a genious manager at work.
his united career was abismal until he inherited that youth squad that got him through the 90s. by the time they left he was in a position to buy anyone he wanted...which he did.
he was horrible for 8 years then turned into a brilliant manager, coincidentally the same time the likes of giggs, beckham, butt, the nevilles, scholes all cam through.

youre just blinded by man-love...

No im just blinded by common sense.

How do you explain his success at Aberdeen then?? Giggs, Beckham, Neville's all came through the Man utd system but it was overseen by who??

There are plenty of teams that have tried to spend their way to a title and failed.

As much as I love Keano he was not as good at 34 as he thought. He is only bitter that he got moved on for the good of the team.

you really think fergie oversaw the youth set-up? you think he was down there training them? or even watching them? he wouldve been told by his youth coach/s to have a look at this fella or that one and advised he should see how they perform training with the 1st team / ressies.
what are the plenty of teams that have tried to buy a title and failed? recently, thats the only way to win a title. united included.
and the SPL is a joke. fair enough he won it, but once again he came into a team that was on track to win it anyway. they finished 2nd the season before he got there...

Yeah - Fergie did oversee the youth team setup. Its fairly well known - read his auto biography. Im pretty sure he would have known who David Beckham was a fair while before he got his first team start and not relied on a youth coach to tip him off.

3 Scottish titles, a Uefa cup and Uefa Super cup. But i guess he only inherited that team and it had nothing to do with his managerial skills.

If you really think managerial success is only down to being able to spend then Chelsea should have won the last 10 EPL titles.

I might have man love for Fergie but really wake up. Give credit where its due.

yeah, sorry, im not saying fergie is sh!t. just that hes not as great as everyone would have you believe.
and i never said he didnt know who beckham was before he gave him a start, just that he wasnt the one who saw his potential first. or the one who signed him in the first place. and by the way it was brian kidd who trained the youth squad and reported their progress to fergie. im sure fergie mustve mentioned that in his biography?
and chelsea did 'buy' the league. so if it comes down to money, then it wouldn be a clear cut case of chelsea winning every season because fergie also spends truckloads. thats why its gotten closer. more teams with more money. and now enter city.
like i said an SPL title isnt really an indication of a managers greatness. and im sure i can come up with quite a few managers that have won a uefa cup and arent considered brilliant.
i do give him credit. i cant take away the trophies hes won and no matter how lucky/average i think he is, he still did it. he was there. so cudos for that.
but then lets say a different manager wouldve taken over united in the late 80s / early 90s. you think he wouldnt be a legend right now? hard to say i guess, but i think theres a few guys who couldve filled the boots...
