Hey guys,

Just a quick question to ask y'all, to make payment via International Money Order, which is the most safest company to use, that will protect you if anything happens to go wrong? My biggest worry is them cashing my money in and they don't deliver my item. It's never happened to me before but I do not wish to jinks myself. ;)

I know BidPay is up and running again, which was the company that I had been using before, until they went down. But reading by their procedures and FAQ's etc, it looks to me like another PayPal type of company, that does not involved in International Money Order anymore. :( Can I do a COD? LOL!

Any suggestions or recommendations? If no Australian company can give me any protection, then I might have to ask one of my fellow US friends to cover this for me.

It's been such a long time that I had to pay for an auction via Money Order. :p

Thanks in advance.

Rgds,

Hendra

I havent sent an IMO before, but Ive asked some US friends to do so and I pay them back via Paypal (inc paying their fees, etc).

You may be able to send an IMO via registered post, that way youll be able to prove it reached there.

Hope it helps, cant wait to see what youre getting Hendra :p

Unfortunately none will give you any protection.

Western Union Money Order you can get at Aust Post, you can cancel them but if they cash it then no help.

If it is an EBay purchase, you can always claim through EBay but the difficulty is you need to get a report from Western Union that it has been cashed and you did not get the item, and to get this you have to pay US$10 and it takes 3 months. Also you do not get everything back from EBay so EBay is really no help.

Realistically the only way you can get protection is to pay by Credit card or Paypal.

For a Western Union IMO doesnt the seller have to pay for cashing it as well ? I was going to get one the other day and the Post Office dude told me that - wouldnt be too happy if I was a seller and got one of those and had to pay a fee to cash it.

AND $8.60 to send it!!

Hendra - i'd get your US mates to send it!

western union, i didnt think seller has to pay fees.. coz i used to send a couple of times and sellers didn't make a fuss about it at all.. the post said, the seller can just give at their bank, they may have to pay a fee to cash it, but if u put it in your account straight away, as far as i know, no fees, then the seller can later cash in a couple of minutes, so i believe there is no fees.. coz, i bought US$2 worth of cards, and paid almost AU$18.. so, the other side will be cashing about 2$ LOL and he still prefers money order over paypal... (assuming he has a bank account since selling exquisites probably can't be noob, they just plainly hate paypal for ebay's crazy charges)

and yes, Hendra, u better ask ur friends in US to make a payment.. that's probably 100 times more efficient and 50 times faster, and u save some money as well.. of course, u save the worries and stresses that are the most life consuming substances
