Interested to hear peoples thoughts on this. I missed most of the late 90's so I don't have a great feel for most of the product during that time but am trying to catch up.
I was at near completion of all grant hill base/refractor/atomic. For all 90's. At one point. Same with players club. But the one last i never bothered with was the same with the players club platinum. Had jordan in the pic and dumb pricing.
1. 1993-94 Ultra Scoring Kings - The most iconic set of the 90s for me. Still have the full set and 2 Jordans. Perfect design.
2. 1993-94 Upper Deck SE Die-cut All Stars - Mind-blowing design at the time. First set I put together as an adult, and still have it.
3. 1995-96 Flair Hot Numbers - Best-looking lenticular set ever. Wild design. Missing Jordan from this set but it's just too much $$$ for me.
4. 1993-94 Finest Refractors - Perfect 90s. vibe and I LOVE the colours. Real nostalgia for me. Working on this one at the moment.
5. 1992-93 Stadium Club Beam Team - Had the full set, now only have Jordan and Shaq which are forever holds for me.
6. 1994-95 Skybox Center Stage - Skybox absolutely killed it that year with their designs. The gold. The font they used. The foils. Always loved the sparkle they used for the names in Centre Stage, but this year was so much better than the previous one. Sold my set a little while ago.
7. 1998-99 Fleer Electrifying - Absolutely gorgeous set. Love the Jordan in the black uniform.
8. 1994-95 Skybox Draft Picks - Again, the foil and the fonts. This set was the perfect mix of Skybox 94-95 style. Sold my set a while ago as well.
9. 1993-94 Ultra Power in the Key - The colours and textures are fantastic. Sold my set ages ago.
10. 1994-95 E-Motion N-Tense - Never gonna not look incredible. Gold, glitter, and the crazy blue holo text.
The first card I ever saw from the first pack i ever opened was the Shaq RC...and whilst I have never pulled anything good over the years, I always have a place in my heart for this.
Decided I would do this by release rather than breaking down to individual insert sets. Also I have included a link to tcdb.com for a card I have from each release. That seems much better than my terrible photography efforts.
1) 1989-90 Hoops - all about the David Robinson RC. Right in the middle of the “junk wax” era but This was the first real chase rookie card.
1993-94 Finest - the birth of the refractor. The start of a 90s staple for Topps across Finest, Chrome and Bowmans. Sadly I have been neglectful and yet to pick up a refractor from this series so will have to settle for a base.

1994-95 Topps Embossed - like with Emotion I enjoy the original design of the base cards in this set. Plus, the Golden Idols parallels look great too. I feel Emotion and Embossed, following on from Finest, showed the continued development of basketball cards as they moved forward from plainer designs.

1995-96 Hoops - probably a weird choice for most but this and Skybox were at the forefront of my basketball card collecting. I love so many of this release’s inserts - Hot List, Top 10 (so much pink!), and Number Crunchers which is one of the few complete insert sets I have. Also Garnett’s rookie year; though at the time Stackhouse was the man to chase!

1996-97 Skybox Premium - everyone loves the Star Rubies and Kobe RC but more importantly for me the first year of Autographics, the first extended series of autographs. While common place now autographs were a novelty before this series. Unfortunately I have nothing exciting to contribute from Autographics for a few years yet.
1997-98 Metal Universe - PMGs. You can argue they are over-rated but still one of the most sought after parallels around. Plus the set is more than just PMGs - Titanium is an awesome insert set in its own right (go go do-cuts and acetate) and Duncan and T-Mac RCs are cool.
1997-98 Upper Deck - I agonised over this last spot as I left a lot of cool sets out (No Topps Chrome, Skybox Z-Force or the original Metal). However, it would be criminal not to have an Upper Deck series on the list and while memorabilia cards maybe ho-hum now the Game Jersey series was ground breaking and highly desired. (Nope don’t have any of them either!).
