I just saw Yao ming in burswood for all you perth people.. Is there anything happening in Perth? I heard from the dealer a bunch of Chinese basketball players are here?
Maaaan played blackjack with Yao! sooooo tall even when sitting down

He owns the Shanghai Sharks mate, the team he used to play for while in his younger, CBA days.
They are in Perth for an invitational tournament, second straight year.
The Wildcats and the Singapore Slingers are playing too.
Used to freelance as a journalist and covered the Slingers, while a mate of mine is currently doing it for the Sharks, so got to know of this tournament (Cable Beach Invitational or something), but it's really a very low-key thing haha.

Paul Millsap's younger brother Elijah is playing for the Sharks, and DJ White has signed with them but I'm not sure if he's there.
I think it's worth a watch! I caught a couple of Sharks games last X'mas, they are pretty good.

Oh man ,I'd love to go. I reckon Yao would be a great guy to meet.

Not sure if you can get near him, when I was at the Yuanshen Stadium in Shanghai, Yao sat way up in the nosebleeds but the guards won't even let us close enough to take a picture OF him, much less with him haha.

Yeah, didn't think he's just be walking in supermarkets on his own or anything :P It's a shame, he's one of my favourite sportsmen.

Haha I quite like him too, seems like such a nice, humble guy. Quite a change from the usual pricks! :p
I think he would love to walk around on his own, but unfortunately he's just too tall to miss!

Exactly. It's the attitude (and, let's be honest it's also the height) that sets him apart. Wish I didn't have work, and the car wasn't at the mechanics.. or I'd be down to Burswood. Have they played yet? If not, is it open to the general public?

Always nice to see one of the good guys!

Yes it is mate, some info for you: http://www.cablebeachinvitational.com.au/
The Zhejiang Guangsha Lions is the team that Wilson Chandler played for last season. And to be honest, they are quite crap without him :D
And they feature PJ Ramos! Remember him from his NBA days? The tall Puerto Rican center with no game haha.
