Would You Leave A NEG ???

I've been a member on ebay since 2001 and in that time I think I have maybe left 2 or 3 negatives, and on this site I think maybe one. I wanted to get some opinions on a deal. The price and the card is really unimportant, its more the principle of it.

Seller advertises a card for a price
I agree to the price
Deal thread is set up by seller
I agree to the deal
Send payment immediately like I always do
Seller says I will post it out for you tomorrow
No worries

Then today some 16-18hours later, I get a paypal refund and the message that he got a better deal from someone else. WTF?!
Has he done a deal better with someone else or maybe he is trying to run a silent auction through pm and see if I will now pay more....

Either way for some reason it has really gotten up my nose

If it's on ebay I would Neg - that's a 'contract'. If on this site I would report to a mod for advice.

If a deal was written up and he agreed to it, I'd neg him. That's the same as selling a card that's already sold or a selling a card you don't have. Against site rules and other members should be made aware incase they do it to others in future.

Definitely would neg an ebay seller for that behaviour, in terms of this site I suppose I have seen people leave a neg for being stuffed around. Not sure if it warrants one, but I probably would personally.

But geez I don't always get what I want for my cards but that's part of the game. If I sell it and receive payment I am going to honour that, much the same as honouring the 99 cents someone got my ebay sale for

In my opinion, as soon as he posts up the deal thread and puts his Agreed and you put up your Agreed.. that is a contract.
He has agreed to take that amount of dollars from you for that product he is selling.
Not cool to break from that agreement because someone offered him more money.

Am I the only one who is soft????

Encountered similar thing on this site but for some reason the seller (fairly prominent member in OCT) changed his mind even after the thread was set up and agreed upon.

I did NOT leave a negative feedback (even though very angry and annoyed) because the seller acted professionally by
1. Advising that he has changed his mind and will not follow through the thread ASAP
2. Refunding any monies outstanding immediately
3. Apologises for any hassle or inconvenience caused.

I understand that there is a contract in place, but why can't things also be done in the spirit of things. At the end of the day, the buyer hasn't lost anything physically and financially. Just my 2 cents

If it was just because he had changed his mind about the card and deal I would maybe give them a chance, but simply because you could get more money elsewhere is just greedy........... so i repeat............ Neg the crap out of him

yep, i have to agree with heath, if he changed his mind on keeping the card, ie. keeping it in his PC, i would be okay with that (i would be annoyed, but i would deal with it)

however, if he, as you said, found a better deal for more money, that requires physical abuse. if thats not possible, a NEG would have to be suffice.
if it were me i would name and shame, but thats me.

i feel if you make a deal, its pretty much it. if both parties have agreed and FFS paypal was even sent !
its a deal.

was it ebay or here out of interest?

All good opinions, keep them coming! I am a bit soft to sometimes anakin that's why I posted this thread, instead of just leaving a neg. But its the principle of it all and like Sanctum said about 99cent ebay auctions, I have been on the ass end of those many times and had to honour the deals as a seller. But this is different, he set a fixed price, I agreed and paid for it, plus it is against site rules.

time = money
time = something you cannot get back
losing faith in other human beings is a huge lost mate.............makes people less trusting of others........and potentially lead to that person being an a-hole to someone else in the future by justifying that it was done to them..................

no need to name and shame me mate, im happy to come out and say it was me.

Further more to this you did not pay straight away as you said, i think it was a day later and i did not get a "better or higher" price on the card sold for the exact same amount.

Yes i made a mistake, no you had not agreed to the sale thread when i sold the card.
One problem i am finding with this forum is people say yep ill take that card and then you dont hear from them in days, or you see them selling other cards to fund the purchase from you (that could take days to settle)

I can fully understand this practice, for high end cards because you are dealing with alot of $$$ but not for cards that are worth ten dollars.
I feel like i now need to put in each sale thread "payment to be made within 48 hours"
I believe it to be really unfair to other people that are willing to pay on the spot for a card, but because they were not the first person to see the thread they miss out because another person has put it on hold.

Further more, because of the stuff up i have made i have gone and purchased the exact same card from Ebay for double the amount (not that i mind) and have offered it to the other party involved free of charge
after i have also given a full refund.

Option 1. i have just purchased 3 (only really wanted 1) of the same cards (Kobe gold jersey) of ebay.

Option 2. i have about 500 GU and Autos from 2007-2011, im willing to send you some free of charge. I will make
sure the cards are at least double the value of what you paid for the Kobe.

So on that note, with other deals you are talking about chase em up if you are waiting too long for payment.

Looks like matty83 is trying to go out of his way to fix this. Everyone makes mistakes but its how you fix them that shows your true colours.

Now we have both sides of the story i think a neg would be pretty harsh.

You're not alone. That's what I would have done also. The seller didn't lie to you and in Howzat's case, the seller made contact in less than a day. I would just let it go and since he's getting more money, I would be happier for him. This is our community which we are proud to be part of. If any of us change their minds in a deal that has been agreed on then I'll let it go. That's just me...

That was my point made earlier. The professionalism of the other party is extremely important. Matty83 did the right thing by the spirit of things (not contractually) and tried to make amends where reasonable. Whilst I understand Howzat's annoyance and frustration, at no point of time, was Matty83 trying to be an A*hole or anything like that. C'mon guys we don't live in a draconion society. Where is your compassion? If it was me, I''ll defintiely not negative feedback Matty83.
