Would the league be better off with less teams and perhaps less games?

I was thinking this yesterday when i was scrolling thru games to watch on league pass.
Whilst there was a few good games on, there was more than a couple i couldnt even
stand to watch the recaps off.

Does anyone else think that a league consolidated to say...24 teams (like in the 80s),
would create a more quality product? ie less teams with more talent...

Imagine say the Bobcats or the Hornets top 5 players spread out into the other teams?

HELL NO!! only having 15 people on each team's roster means that only the best 450 people in the WORLD are able to play in the NBA.
Reduce that to 24 teams mean you have to cut the worst 90 players would get cut. That means Blair is gone! haha

The amount of rookies every draft would reduce, and the players that don't immediately show massive potential won't get another chance. Like Jeremy Lin, Danny Green etc etc

BTW - I didn't think the Hornets and Bobcats could come up with 5??

I'd say no, the sheer population over there probably makes it viable. Compare it with Australia and you can see why the number if teams was reduced and why the league had a high team turnover. Imagine if Australia even had 50 mil people, teams and sports and cities would be very different!

But if you were to reduce the amount of hacks/scrubs in the league, would that just not open up more opportunities for
the younger guys with potential to come up? Im sure for every success story like Lin & Green, theres hunderds of others
that shouldnt even be in the league...

But arent some cities struggling with attendance? Maybe if the organizations had better talent to put on the floor,
they would see arenas selling out coz of more marquee match ups...

Would a relegation type system work? (like they have in soccer)

I think there does need to be something to get rid of complacency, but if there are more teams and more games, then there is more for me to watch on League Pass!

I think the spread of talent is acctually starting to get better, drafts are proving to be pretty solid and i think teams are starting to gather some solid talent every year

Haha i cant even keep up with the amount of games on now! But id happily not watch 10 or so games a week of bottom feeders
purposely tanking games to get lottery picks.

It also might convince a lot of these guys to not just do the 'one and done' year in
college and hone their games better. Knowing theres less desperate teams to throw money at them,
and more competition in the draft.

ie Damian Lillard. 4 years of college and it shows how much more prepared he is for the NBA.

Imagine a league with your Kemba Walkers, Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins even Kyrie Irving teamed with better talent.
