Finally took the plunge and signed up for Broadband today!!

Never really saw a need for it, as we dont download a lot or anything, but Dodo's dial up service has gotten progressively worse and their "customer support  " is a complete joke, i've made the same complaint at least 10 times about line drop outs to get the exact same response saying i must have call waiting connected, morons!

Anyways, singed up today with AAPT, $39 a month, 12gb download, 512k speed, no fixed contract :D, free modem & connection :)

Welcome to the real world Matty!!!
But I was wondering....how could someone from Bendigo sign up with AAPT after they decided to close the call-centre there?? (and lose 300 jobs in the process??)

nice plunge matty,i have aapt, told telstar to jam it,and glad i did,ive never had dial up so i wouldnt know how slow it is

cheers

thats no a bad deal for broadband...I pay $80 a month on optus cable!

ive also heard the same thing about dodo...someone complained to money magazine with a similar issue about their so called customer service...ring their sales team though and get someone straight away!

exactly! they are f'in pathetic...and IF you get someone in customer service they are in india and can barely speak english and the only thing they know is Outlook and Internet Explorer...like when we first signed up they mispelled my username (mattsmith instead of matsmith, no big deal but my name is Mathew not Matthew) so i rang to get it corrected and they "couldnt help me" coz i was using Eudora and not Outlook lol...dickheads!

Line drop outs can also be a result of poor phone lines either in the house or at the exchange. We had that before we moved (the first time).

It's great you're on ADSL, you'll love it!!!!!

Free modem and connection is a bonus!!!!

to turn off call waiting dial #43# to turn it on dial *43#

LMAO

But yes dropouts can be to do with a million things.... call waiting is the first thing we ask when someone is complaining of dialup issues.... anothe ris if you are using a double adaptor.... dialup modems can be so finickity!

BUT w00t! Welcome to the land of Broadband :D

Don't complain to Telstra if your ADSL gets screwy tho.... complain to your ISP ;)

Agree with you Matty. I too have Dodo dialup, and it has steadily gotten worse the last 6 months or so. Plus they've changed the dialup number about 3 times.

They have too many dialup customers, soo they're trying to discourage users and get them on more expensive plans.

I'd contemplate getting broadband too, except that my room-mate would chew up my limit in no time with all the porn he downloads.

Yup room mate ;-)

After tacking into account phone calls to dial in some broadband plans work out cheaper than dial up.

I'm on TPG ADSL2+ and i get super fast speeds. I was on 18G a month allowance at $49.95 but up it to 30G for an extra $9.99.

Pretty good isp too with a reliable service.

We have seperate dialup accounts. I'm with Dodo, unlimited time & downloads.

He's with Rascal, on a similar although more expensive plan.

Clarkey, they actually told us on the phone once that they are deliberately making the dialup unreliable so people will switch to their broadband, scumbags

I should really upgrade to broadband but then it cuts into my card buying money! lol

But then again it wont take me hours of my time to load someones photobucket!
