Anyone using this?

Just got a notebook for work with Vista Business on it.

Damn it's hard to navigate at first. Still trying to nut it all out.

But really stuck on something.....

My "My Documents" isn't accessible.... just says access denied.
Anyone have this problem?

Sorry, i just swtiched to OS X and Utuntu... only loads windows for torrents and scanner (which i never use LOL). but i thought vista looks good on widescreen LCD...

Another thing i dislike about windows is NTFS system, which they said it's secure and highly manageable.. but for me, it's against with every other OSs..

Sounds like windows adapted more likely to Unix.. changing all files into R/W/X..

I thought Vista would have been very similar to XP but with more multimedia options? Do you guys think that reigns true? Just a beefed up XP to show Microsoft "making progress" or rather making money

Ok, after a good day working with it, well it was more like half a day.

I've discovered quite a few Applications of mine (and mine @ Work) won't run. Wether that be because of security settings, or that there's no compatability.

I've also discovered that Outlook 2000 (Workplace/Corporate) will work fine, however, EACH and EVERY time you launch Outlook, you need to confirm a small configuration (this is annoying the !@#$ outta me).

Vista has been designed to make life easier, that, at first, is not true.... life sucks at first with Vista. It's hard to navigate, and find all the settings they've turned off, that should be on.

I can say that I've done about 1,000 Google's so far just to find shit that I can't find.

More updates to come.

Was this an upgrade from XP ?

I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate on my PC when it was released 3 weeks ago and it actually works pretty darn well. A lot of programs DO run on Vista (ive only found one or two that don't) - you need to either right click the exe and "Run As Administrator" or right click -> properties-> run in XP Compatibility mode.

I didnt have the "ownership" problem (that seems to be only on people who upgrade from XP) nor the Outlook config problem. Seems to me to be a problem between Chair and Keyboard ;)

One thing i've noticed Vista is awesome for is converting avi files to DVD - previously it used to run at around 25 fps (or real time) - in vista using the same program it can run around 100-125 fps - meaning im converting dvd's 4 to 5 times faster than XP.

I'm with nandalinnaung, I'm a Ubuntu user, have been for nearly three years. :smt055
I have everything moved over, the only thing I boot into windows for now is the occasional game of BF2 or Cricket 2007. I love the ease of use, no forced restrictions, and the eye candy of beryl. :smt110

Nah it was a brand new notebook with Vista Business on it.

I'll try that Right-Click, run in XP Compat mode.

You using Outlook as Internet Email, or Workgroup/Corporate?

I couldnt install Nero 6, DVDShrink, and a couple of others.

Thanks for the info.
