Welllll I voted no, but not because of his basketball ability....

if the NFL HOF and Michael Irvin being over looked this year is anything to go by... Americans seem to care too much about off field endeavours than the sporting endeavours..... while off-field attests to the type of person a player is... what they do on the court/field/arena should be all that matters when being vote dinto the HOF for their sport....

I hope i am wrong cos Rodman deserves to be in there....

must i remind you this isnt a vote of you wanting him in, its a vote if you think the nba will let him in... either way the vote, no matter the outcome, doesnt mean jack

mutombo is a realistic chance.. he lead the league in blocks god know how many times, and set monster records, especially in playoffs...

if you're gonna be like that whitey....just dont vote

Flame you i shall scotty. thats a crazy call. Malone and rodman arent even in the same league, not even close. i dont get the malone haters...sure he could be cheap at times, and was not pretty to watch, but in terms of individual accolades, hes gotta be in the top 5 of all time. 9th on the all time list for steals, 6th all time for rebounds, 2nd all time for points, 1st all time for FTs made and attempted....etc etc etc, his individual achievements piss all over rodmans. lets look at them:

* Selected in 1996 as one of the "50 Greatest Players in NBA History"
* Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (1996-97, 1998-99), one of only nine players in NBA history to win the Maurice Podoloff Trophy more than once
* Eleven-time All-NBA First Team selection (1988-89, 1989-90, 1990-91, 1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94, 1994-95, 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98 and 1998-99), two-time All-NBA Second Team selection (1987-88 and 1999-2000), and a 2000-01 All-NBA Third Team selection
* Three-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection (1996-97, 1997-98 and 1998-99) and a 1987-88 NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection
* Fourteen-time NBA All-Star selection who played in 12 games (missed 1990 game due to injury and the 2002 game due to family illness), including 10 consecutive contests from 1991 to 2001
* Named MVP of the 1989 All-Star Game in Houston after registering 28 points and nine rebounds, and named co-MVP with teammate John Stockton of the 1993 All-Star Game in Salt Lake City after tallying 28 points and 10 rebounds
* Ranks second all-time in points scored with 36,374, behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387)
* Holds the NBA record most consecutive seasons scoring 2,000 or more points (11, 1987-88 to 1997-98) and shares the record with Michael Jordan for most career 2,000 point seasons (11, 1987-88 to 1997-98)
* Tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (17) for most consecutive seasons scoring at least 20.0 points per game (17, 1986-87 to 2002-03)
* Scored a career-high 61 points, the most by a Jazz player since the franchise moved to Utah, against the Milwaukee Bucks on 1/27/90
* Holds the NBA record for most seasons leading the league in free-throws made (seven, 1988-89 to 1992-93, 1996-97, 1997-98) and most consecutive seasons leading the league in free-throws made (1988-89 to 1992-93)

oh and also malone wasnt an alcoholic wife beating cross dresser off the court.

Who was this directed at cobber?? Not me I hope... since I gave you a reason why I believed he WOULDN't be voted in (the American psyche in voting for sporting heroes in HOFs)... then just expressed my hope that he does... so

I went with yes. I think he's got the stats to back it up.
You forgot one more stat but.
All time most Tech's.
And I think he may even have alltime most suspentions.
But I think our mate ronnie artest has most games suspended.

and malone could play d.. i take it you never saw him muscle out shaq from the lane, or see him play players like kemp/olajuwon/barkley/d rob and co. (thats directed at Mavs) if you took Malone over Rodman your crazy..

Why did malone score 30+ games in the finals against the bulls? crazy... anyone recall game 5 in chicago 1998?? not only did karl get off on offence, but antoine carr also.. where was rodman??

and dont think im bagging rodman, i love the guy and think he was a mad player, and would love to see him as a hof, but i dont think the league would support the case of him being in it... hall of fame , its not a carnival

i voted no.. but now that i think of it, i think he does deserve it..all i needed was this.. a guy, who played primarily in the 80's and 90's averaged nearly 19 rebounds per game in a full season? unheard of in modern days..

definatley unheard of, and no one is questioning his wotk ethic or what he's acheived on on the court.. but off the court, and his antics at times with techs/disqualifications/head butting/suspensions and you know the rest.. i mean what would the league think to let him in?

I put yes too and deserves it.

He basically fulfilled his duties on the team (I'll make reference when he was with the Bulls)

He didn't need to score, there was Jordan/Pippen, didn't need to have the big man presence there was Grant/Longley, didn't need to take the 3-pt there were about 5 guys to do that.

He was basically there to do the crap jobs - hussle, rebound and throw the opponents off their game. He accomplished all 3 with 10/10 efforts.

I'm not sure if it was deliberate, but he also took the media pressure/spotlight off his team mates esp Jordan with his antics. Some were hilarious like dressing up as a women, and the constant hair dyes, and others were forgettable as some have mentioned.

I think they'll induct him in about 25 yrs time when people just analysis stats, and forget about the 100s of antics he pulled in his career.

And Sprewell would be up that list too.

Maybe because Longley spent most of his time guarding Malone (& also Kemp).

so when longley wasnt on the court for say.. the other 27 or so minutes, who took him then? don't you recall the foul trouble he was in? he'd leave the court in the first few mins.. he only averaged approx 21 mins a game 1997/1998

28 mins game 1 - malone 21 points 43 mins (Overtime game)
17 mins game 2 - malone 17 points 32 mins
25 mins game 3 - malone 22 points 31 mins
23 mins game 4 - malone 21 points 43 mins
23 mins game 5 - malone 39 points 44 mins / carr 12 points 21 mins
14 mins game 6 - malone 31 points 43 mins

so who was gaurding malone for the left over minutes?

the answer... the guy below.. the same guy that was handling malone the end of game 6 that allowed jordan to steal the ball.

the same guy that was tangled up with malone all series long, from the trip down the court that leaded to rodman technical, to the flopping after being banged up by the mailman etc etc..

and vs kemp? yeah he did battle kemp at times did luc, but so did rodman.. they had their fare share that series..

ohh and heres a question.. when luc was gaurding malone, who was rodman handling? ostertag? he spent less time than luc on the floor.... not that luc wasnt gaurding malone..
spose rodman was taking care of adam keefe, or greg foster..

Haha, i watched game 6 the other night, and that was a great matchup, both guys doing everything they could to piss each other off, both of them were flopping for fouls, taking cheap shots, just trying to get inside the other players head. rodman was the master at that, but to his credit malone stayed strong, and you gotta say malone took the honours in that matchup.

was a great series, and a great game 6 to finish.. malone did take the honors, breaking out of his slump from the previous year.. he let dennis get to him a bit much (plus his blister the year before) .. i like when malone calls the ball of dennis rodman "it's off dennis rodman" and rodman replies "he knows my name.. he knows my name!!"

rodman still had the better of him in the post, but when the mail man was set for his jumper, no one could stop it.. not even..... luc longley!!!
