I vote yes - he does deserve it and the judges will get it right. See above.

I voted that he wont get in but not because of his basketball ability. I think if he wasn't the wedding dress wearing, smacked out crazy dude then they'd be more likely to put him in. The Hall of Fame seems like it's more than just basketball talent involved. There's a lot of politics to it as well so I think that his past behaviour could weigh in to their decision.

I tell you what though, if Nique misses out again I am going to be pretty pissed off!

if gone with no...and not because of his bball ability...

I think the distractions and the multiple comebacks etc will hurt him come induction time...he'll struggle to get in while the calibur of other players rise that he competes with for induction...

with those stats you posted jimmy, he'd be a shoe in but i think what the others are saying may be true..... i think some of his personal life may come back to haunt him in that respect.

but definitely deserves it for what he brings onto the court!!

Get him in there. His stats speak for them selves. I agree that his personal life is a bit funny...but...it should be judged on playing ability

Wonder if some of the guys can tell me a bit more about the HOF process. I always thought that politics plays a subtle role, but it sounds like many of you guys are fairly confident that the Worm is going to suffer from his personality and off-court frolics (oh yeah and of course there were several crazy happenings on the court too).

should be judged on ability, but it isnt. imagine if rodman was a convicted paedophile, think hed get in? not a chance in hell. off the court behaviour is almost as important as on the court talent.

anyway, thats beside the point. the real reason rodwoman wont get in is because he excelled at only 1 aspect of the game, rebounding. rebounding: legend. assists, steals, pts, FT%, blocks: HORRIBLE. besides which, hes only 18th on the all time rebounds list.

lets look at a similar case: Mutumbo. maybe the greatest shot blocker ever? you could easily make the case. a few more and hell be 2nd all time behind hakeem, surpassing kareem. list of accolades similar to rodmans (minus the championships):

# Named 2000-01 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, his fourth selection (1997-98, 1996-97, 1994-95)
# Selected for the 2000-01 All-NBA Second Team
# Named to his third NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2000-01 (1997-98, 1996-97)
# Made his seventh career All-Star Game appearance in the 2001 NBA All-Star Game in Washington, D.C.
# Recorded 2500th career blocked shot at Minnesota on 12/28/01, becoming the seventh player in league history to reach that plateau
# In 1999-2000, led NBA in rebounding (14.1 rpg), first member of Hawks to achive such a feat since Bob Pettit in 1955-56, and ranked second in field-goal percentage (.562) and blocked shots (3.28)
# Named the winner of the 1998-99 IBM Award after leading the Hawks in rebounding (12.2 rpg, third in the NBA), blocked shots (2.94 bpg, fourth) and field-goal percentage (.512)
# Named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1994-95 and 1998-99
# Named to the All-NBA Third Team in 1997-98
# Led the NBA in total rebounds in 1999-2000 (1157), 1994-95 (1,029), and 1996-97 (929)
# Set an NBA Playoffs record with 31 blocked shots in a five-game series, leading the 8th-seeded Nuggets to a first-round upset of the 1st-seeded Seattle SuperSonics in the 1994 NBA Playoffs
# Blocked his 2,000th career shot, adding 18 points and 11 rebounds, against the Minnesota Timberwolves on 4/5/98

pretty impressive yeah? but he will not get in the HOF. wont happen. neither will rodman.

I have gone with no...and not because of his bball ability... for obvious reasons.. as if the league would want someone that head butts, kicks a camera man, leads the league in ejections/technicals into the HOF... I know what he can do, what he did, and what he acheived..

I would like to think Rodman will. Until he got with Madonna, he was generally a quiet/hard worker, who didn't get much attention, but just did his job night in, night out.

Was looking at his cards the other day. If I remember correctly, he led the league in rebounds for 7 years straight (2 in Detroit, 2 with SA & Robinson, & 3 with Chicago).

Anyway, I believe he should, and hope he makes it. He HAS earnt it.

yeah if the NBA throws him a bone- all those defensive first team honours! Those NBA titles generally bring in big votes right? Eventually Mutombo will get in the HOF too when they run out of players to vote in just like those other sports lol.
Dominique should get in too!

Absolutely.

If Mailman can get in for his achievements, why can't Worm?

Mailman only had assists, and scoring over Rodman. I'd take Rodman over Mailman if I were starting a team!!!

Defense wins games & Rebounds help!! Scoring's easy, any fool can do it.

Flame on....

Nup Scotty is right. Its the 'BASKETBALL' hall of fame. If Gary Abblet can get into the AFL one then Rodman is a shoe in.

This guy was at the top of the wishlist for coaches for years and a dominating factor in championships. Thats HOF stuff.

Its a no brainer if you look at his game and not him.

i think Mutumbo will get in man, he is like 1 of the best international players to EVER play in the NBA.............I voted for Rodman to make it to the HOF, he is 1 guy that deserves to be there, as 1 of the best defenders/rebounders/team players to ever play in the NBA...5 rings with 2 different teams, part of what is considered to be the best team of all time - 72-10 in 1995-96, played in the all-star game....he is a character that no one will forget for years and years and years...........they will be talking about rodman this time in 50 years trust me

True, rings look at how we view things to a degree. That Cavs team really deserved the title and get past the Bulls too. Nance got injured and that killed that chance and Jordan bailed out the Bulls.

If not Daugherty, Nance, Price and Nance would be mentioned more in star player discussions. The Cavs could have got two or more rings if not for dumb luck.
