Why do americans expect us to know THEIR postage rates?

Firstly no disrespect to our american traders on here.

But on another trading site, twice in the last 24 hours this has happened

I had one guy approach me for a trade (and it quite clearly states under my username where i am from) then we agreed on cards and he then says to me "how much is this going to cost me to ship to you" to which i responded i had no idea he then had a go at me for not being in america and then backed out of the deal

and today, i had a trade i had agreed to 3 or 4 days ago which i posted off on tuesday, the guy messages me today, says he just got back from the post office, tells me how much it cost him to send then abused me for it

it was these sort of things that drove me away 4 years ago - looks like nothing has changed

i think i am going to stick to dealing with aussies only

Sorry for that, just annoyed me that it took like 2 weeks for all the same crap to start again

I have had this happen to me numerous times, especially on ebay. I actually laugh when they ask me for shipping costs!

Some of them are just USA only focused and probably refuses to accept other (and better) countries exist

I think the recent price-rise for international packages has not helped the issue. A lot of traders, especially ones who have not traded with people abroad, will get a rude shock when they are at the counter of their local post office. But then again, that is no excuse to be rude and abuse the fellow trader.

It's a fair question to ask if how much it has cost in the past IMO. I don't know what the issue? If it becomes an argument just because someone asked that question, then I can't imagine the deal would have gone too smoothly anyway!

did you read the post? it was 2 seperate deals, one backed out coz i didnt know postage costs (i have been away from the hobby for 4 years, how am i meant to know what US postage rates are?) - I dont ask Americans how much it will cost me to post, does the US postal service not have a website?
and 2nd one didnt ask or anything, but when he got back from the post office abused me coz of how much it cost

I did. I was saying that the question is a fair one to ask and that if it causes a problem with the seller because you DON'T know the answer, then you probably didn't want to deal with them anyway!
I wasn't indicating you were in the wrong in any way. I was just saying that you probably didn't want to deal with them anyway!

Its happening more and more though, thinking i might have to start utilizing that COMC mailbox service that Ive been reading about....

The standard USPS international shipping cost went up from around $2.40 USD to a minimum of $7.20 USD in 2013. If you look around the forums, you will find american members haggling with people over 50c for some cards So I am not surprised they carry on like pork chops when they see the shipping costs!

Our costs to send over there isn't to far off either.

I can send a single card in a toploader for $2.35 under 50g and between 50-125 it is $4.40 so it is a heap cheaper!

i just sent one - 83grams, $1.20 for bubble mailer + cost of postage $5? not so much cheaper

I use cardboard around my toploaders on both sides. 2 cards.

I hate does not ship to your country, if someone wants to buy my item, i will send it, cause sending it locally might sell for $10 but interstate someone may wanna pay $50
