Given Tak's recent break-in I was wondering how people store their cards from thieves/kids/fires/floods etc.
About 9 months ago i moved my stuff into a secure storage locker (we were putting on an extension and I had no room to keep them and i was also concerned about someone breaking in and flogging them).
Costs me $30 per month (insured) for a 2x2x2m locker. The only pain is that if i need anything its a car trip to get it but im happy to have them in a secure location.
Storage lock ups are a great idea. I have heard they are not insured though. I have had a few friends tell me that things in these storage places had been broken into and found they have had no insurance coverage with the storage yard. Is it an extra to insure things that are stored there. Not sure if this is true I heard a story that a friend of a friend had a car stored in one of these and the insurance company would not pay as the car was not listed as being garaged there.
The thing I found with storage is most insurance places will only insure what you can prove you paid for cards. So you need a stupid amount of paperwork. Value in cards is "subject" I was told.... So if anything happens in your storage shed... You may have to argue the hell out of the insurance company....
I pay $30 a week for "unquestioned" $50000 insurance.
Cards are pretty far down my priority list incase of a fire. Dog comes first but i might chuck a couple of toploaders in my pocket
Insurance will have my back but i did have the worlds best collection....shhhhh
My dog actually died on new years eve...... And I've never felt so crap in my whole life!! I remember holding her thinking "I'd give my whole nrl collection to have her back".... And I think that opinion would never change for me.

I have/had two. Celie boxer cross. And midge was a staffy cross red dog..... She was very smart... And spend many hours hanging with me and my footy cards.. I'd let her sniff them after they were in screw downs...... She loved it.. Lol..

It would frustrate me too much not being able to see them if I kept them elsewhere. If something happens to them then that's life, but I'd rather enjoy them while I have the chance.
