Think about it, let's look at the last 17 years.The following are player made all-star teams within 3-5 years of being drafted

1996 gave us Iverson, Bryant, Nash, Starbury, Ray, Camby, Shareef, Walker & J.O'neal
1997 gave us Duncan, Billups & McGrady
1998 gave us Jamison, Carter, Dirk & Pierce
1999 gave us Brand, Francis, Davis, Rip, Marion & Artest
2000 gave us nothing
2001 gave us Tyson Chandler, Pau and Joe Johnson
2002 gave us Amare, Yao & Caron
2003 gave us Melo, LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Kaman & David West
2004 gave us Dwight, Iggy & Deng
2005 gave us Bogut, DWill, CP3 & Granger

then since 2005 we have had 9 all-stars drafted.

Pre-2005 = average 4.1 all-stars per draft
post-2005 = average 1.2 all-stars per draft
