Whats with panini and cards being limited to 49?

i have no idea as well..

they are very inconsistent with their set numbering as well
ex. some cards are /40, some are 25, and some are /1

I think its just a case of they make a lot of their numbered cards one under the old more common mark of #/50, #/100, #/250 etc I personally don't mind it at all :)

it's not really that odd. Remember the 1998-99 Fleer Classic '69 parallel? that was numbered to 69. Upper deck, topps and fleer have had weird numbering on cards in the past.

Topps always had weird one too. Like /189 and other randoms. At least the Fleer Classic '61 are numbered to 61 because of the year that style of card was like. There are some football inserts from Fleer back in the early 00's that had parallels numbered to that players TD total the season before. So, some Randy Moss cards were numbered to /12 etc.

I think they could get a whole bunch of autos done. Filter out the really bad ones for every player. Then look at what they need and what's left and try to make sets from there.
