Marbury Says Don't Fear Celtics, KG
August 2, 2007 - 7:11 am
New York Post -
Stephon Marbury said late last season he would love to reunite with Kevin Garnett. But Marbury feels no remorse Garnett is headed to Beantown and believes the Knicks should not be afraid of the new-look Celtics.

In an exclusive interview with The Post, Marbury also took shots at Minnesota GM Kevin McHale, expressing concern his cousin Sebastian Telfair, involved in the blockbuster, has to play for him.

"When I do speak to (Sebastian) I'll wish him good luck and tell him to be careful around Kevin McHale," Marbury said.

McHale's trade has made Boston the East's team to beat in some circles. Marbury isn't granting the Celtics the Eastern title.

"On paper, they're a really good team with guys who can really play, but they still have to get on the court and do it," Marbury said. "Chemistry is everything. We look good on paper, too, and we have a year under our belts.

"I'm not thinking about Boston," Marbury added. "I'm only thinking about the New York Knicks . Our new nickname is nice and nasty. That's how we're coming."

P.S Can't you go to Italy now Steph? Who's gonna miss ya honestly..

people will talk the talk but we'll see who walks the walk n makes it more fun when people talk it up to see next season wat happens

I think stephs bitter for not going back to the wolves (or should i say mchale not wanting him back) or him not playing with KG anymore..

remember him saying he'd go back to min? well he'd like to anyways

i have and always will love stephon marbury as a player and person. i think he is very funny as a person despite having some flaws in his past, and i admire his ability on the court.

I love Marbury too but will never forgive him for beaing a Greedy F*ck and walking out on a chance to create a dynasty at the Wolves.

Marbury is a great player., i think he's just trying to inspire his team.. hehe

but Celtics vs Knicks will be very good matchup, fantastc forwards... and they need to be inspired.. coz EAST this year is pretty good.. alot of WEST all-stars moved to EAST this season... and alot of top drafts are in WEST this year.. i think it's pretty balanced season, though i feel like Both LA teams will be pretty boring upcoming season.. if kobe leaves..

I agree, Kevin Garnett is great, but I think New York will come out and surprise a lot of teams this year.

I mean, Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph?

Sure neither are entirely focused on defense, but that could change and offensively they will be flat out dominant. It's like putting your poor man's Dwight Howard in Eddy Curry and lining him up with a semi-Elton Brand type player.

I think New York can be great, Curry could make another case to be an All-Star this year, Randolph will only maintain or get better and Stephon could come back to the elite form which had him as one of the best players in the game for a few seasons back in his late years with Phoenix and early New York.

What are you talking about? its just a few qestions directed to marbury from the media, and hes telling hes thoughts as I would aswell, he doesnt bad mouth anyone? so whats the point of this post , because your a marbury hater and he plays in the nba and you dont?

the wolves got rid of him because of his attitiude in the locker room, but more because of the way he spelt team which was "I"..

it wasn't about money

From what I read it was because Marbury wanted the same money as KG... could you see that happening?

His attitude in wanting all that money is why we had to trade him.

What person came across as a Marbury hater, it was clearly stated that Marbury was a personally motivated player, was a negative prescence in the locker room which is well documented, and as for making a comment to the effect that anyone here made a comment on the premise that they werent in the NBA and the only formerly known as "Starbury" manages to somehow maintain a existance....please..spare us all the dramatics...

yep .. i hate all that play in the nba cos im so jelous.. i should be the knicks starting point gaurd, not him..

of course its a few questions directed at him, hence the question of the thread why is every body listening to him? WHY? You get more hype and shite talk from him or even interviews than you do with the whole Garnett trade.. tell me what's bigger?

Well at least Marbury is trying to turn it around, the $14.98 shoes, the community and fundraising work for New York kids and also the flood disaster.

have you seen the shoes? man he coulda taken the price up to maybe $30.. they look terrible, they look like ballet slippers with shoe laces and a number on them.. eek.. though i give it to him, he's trying

From what I remember about Marbury - he hated the weather in Minny - too cold, wanted to be near home - NJ/NY and a bit like Kobe - wanted to be the lone star.....he got it all!!

I do like his shoe idea and he's backed it up by touring signing them everywhere for 2 off seasons so he deserves some props.

Some guys do run at the mouth though....

i agree with you on Marbury getting a lot of attention and hype, and i agree, let's ask why, it's probably just because he plays in New York, that's what i think anyway.

but dude, don't be hating on the shoes!

honestly, professionals, people have worn them, used them and say they are just as good as a pair of and1's that you could go and get from the shops for $100.

and these shoes are $15, very appealing to the poverty stricken and poorer people of the states.
