Apparently WhatNot is now available for Australians as sellers. Many people have been buying from WhatNot for a while now but only from overseas sellers and not from anyone in Australia.
For those that have no idea what it is, it's just a live auction streaming platform. People sell anything from cards to figures, anything really and it's all in live auction format with the options to offer "buy now" items. Sellers attempt to auction their collectables, create communities and make their auctions entertaining in a way that perhaps entices people to buy or get involved somehow.
Thoughts on having this platform available in Australia now and what it means for collectors going forward? For me, it's another way people can shop for collectables and the live auction aspect makes it exciting. But, from what I've seen, it's just encouraged more breakers and flippers of cards overseas. The amount of people I've seen breaking boxes or selling cards with no clue what they even have in their hands is a laugh, but hey, if the shoes fits.
