Is DW something you can trade ?
He looks injured again, and I think he is a free agent at the end of this year.
Kobe is to old for a rebuild around him and DW. Nash is old and slow. Pau and Kobe have trade penalties built into their contracts.
Does LA have anything worth trading for ?
Can they sack Dantoni or should they keep him ?
I really feel, as many do, they are under achieving. They should not have lost to Pheonix.
I would like to hear what you think would work in LA.
Is LA needing to be prepared for some time in the wilderness ?

1st things first i think LA need a defensive minded coach! The offence will look after its self with Nash, Kobe and Dwight out there. Sure up the D first and then worry about the rest. Defence wins championships remember!

Secondly, Dwight is still carrying his shoulder injury and is playing thru the pain which really kills LA cos if he has the surgery to fix it we lose him this year and he can walk once he's recovered. Dont get it fixed and LA keep going the way they r they will be big changes either way at seasons end.

3rd, i'd like to see LA move 1 of the main pieces (preferably Gasol or Nash) for either a good youngster or a good draft pick. Altho Gasol doesnt want to come off the bench it has worked alot better keeping him and Dwight apart and running with Carl.

All in all i really doubt u will see this line up together again next year. All is not lost for LA as they r never to far away from the top of the heap and if need be they will spend more to get back there.

They should have won today which would have alot different spin on a thread like this, but only hitting 2 fg in 10 minutes and having Beasley finally play a worthy game killed it for us.

My call, lets deal with the devil and send Nash and someone else to the C's for the injured Rondo ;)

Trouble is the other teams have been watching them play, and I'm not sure any team would be dumb enough to trade away superstars or young promising talent for an injured centre off contract, an old canadian about to retire or a soft wookie who is a shell of his former self...

I agree 100%, so what does LA have as options ?
Do you go for draft picks and watch Kobe sit on a losing team for the remainder of his career ?
Could LA go after Andrew at seasons end ?
Orlando got a lot of picks I think, Is Orlando the big winners here ?

I remember when Eric Spoelstra was having a rough patch with Miami in his first year, people were calling for Riley to step in and replace him. Turned out, it wasn't a coaching change that was needed but for players to learn their place on the totem pole. Wade had to take a step back, Bosh had to take a step back and Lebron had to step up and not defer to either of them and just be a leader. It's a similar thing in LA right now only worse because the coach is goddamn awful as well. Kobe, Gasol, Dwight, Nash and to a small extent Jamison don't have any idea of the pecking order in this team. Not only that, their coach is a clueless hillbilly who doesn't know how to put his players in their natural positions and in a position to succeed and has ZERO idea on defensive schemes or rotations. Don't tell me Kobe can't play with a ball dominant centre, he had the ultimate BLACK HOLE in Shaq and still won 3 titles. Gasol and Kobe played well even with Bynum being a ball dominant centre. Where's Jeanie Buss' fiance when you need him......

La will wait until wade retires and the heat are no good, Kobe retires and then roll out the red carpet for the king.

The simple fact is that centres take longer to fit into team structures than most players. To follow the Lakers history, we took 4 years to win a title with Wilt (plus West and Baylor, who were not too bad themselves) and pretty sure it was 5 seasons after Shaq was signed that we won the title. The best example is when we traded for Kareem. He was by far the best player in the NBA at the time and joined an ageing Goodrich...but it wasn't until 5 years later when a rookie in Magic Johnson joined him that they won the championship.

Of course, the other thing that all three had in common was they changed coaches after a couple of wasted seasons and agreed to play their role in the team.

I agree 100% with everything Andrew mentioned (except please don't use the word 'worthy' in your posts...it stuffs up my key word searches on this forum!!) ;)

One win (OKC) doesn't give us the championship...and one loss (or one bad quarter) doesn't mean we need to blow up the team. I'd prefer to sit back and watch Boston trade away their heart and sole...that will be fun to watch!

The Lakers need to trade Nash to the Pacers for Augustin, Lakers will get some speed and a youngster who'll flourish under D'Antoni's offensive system and the Pacers get a veteran PG off the bench to lead their young guys. Win win for both teams.

Ok

Lets face facts

1 - Kobe and Nash will never get traded.
2 - Howard has been injured the whole times hes been in L.A so that doesn't help him. I think that he will re sign with the Lakers for the next for seasons
3 - Pau Gasol has been terrible the last couple of years and its time to move him and get some younger guys
4 - Jamison has been disappointing but then again not getting many minutes, Last year he had a good year
5 - Earl Clarke will get better with more game time
6 - Lakers should of re-signed Matt Barnes hes just what they are missing
7 - Ron Artest hes having a better year this year but needs to do a little more
8 - Lakers bench is terrible
9 - I dont think D'Antoni was the right coach but not point complaining about it hes not going anywhere.

It was not a great game today but i wish last year at trade deadline they got Beasley :(

Thats it. End of story. I honestly think that as soon as they acquired Nash at the beginning of the season,
Mike Browns career in LA was over, regardless if he had won the first 5 games.
They wanted Dantoni from the beginning. To run his '8 seconds or less offense' (why else would u pass on the Zen Master )

Except that offense doesnt work with aging vets and an injured, defensive minded center.

Ok
2 - Howard has been injured the while times hes been in L.A so that doesn't help him and i still think he will resign

English is a shocker, I read resign as in quit, but you meant he'll stay with LA ?

Can someone tell me when Kobe's contract runs out please.
