I've got a weird situation. I held a couple of auctions on a Facebook group or two. One guy bought 2-3 cards. I'd say the pick of the cards to be honest, but they're not massive cards. Only $18.50 inc postage. I message him on Oct 25 for payment.
So after a little delay, he pays on Oct 28 via PayID and sends through confirmation. I say thanks and I'll try to send tomorrow. He says "no rush". This is the last communication I receive from him. Previously he was fairly reachable on Messenger.
Anyway, I had a bit of a small emergency, my Mother in law went into hospital and my kids were sick so I couldn't get to the post office. My bad, I should of messaged him straight away, but I didn't. On the Friday (Nov 1), I message him, explain the situation and say I'll post Monday.
On Monday, I'm at the post office to post his and the rest of the sales and I realise I don't have his address. So I message him asking him for it, hoping he'd reply instantly. He doesn't. Fair enough. I post the rest and take his with me.
I message him for his address the next day. No response. I try again on the 12th - no response. I message him again on the 25th. No response.
Today, I message him again. Then ring him via message for a few dials to try and get his attention. He doesn't answer. I also message him asking for his PayPal/Pay ID so I can send a refund. No response.
I don't know what to do? I still have his money, so I'd rather send his cards, but if he wants a refund I'd be happy to do that just to end this saga. I don't understand why he has stopped messaging when I can see his is active on Messenger all the time. When I rang him, it said he was online then. My wife reckons he is trying to scam me, using PayID to access my bank account but I don't believe that.
And for starters don’t know if I’m being the tight one but if I message with payment info on 25th, I’m expecting to be paid before the 28th unless there’s an agreement or reason
Good point. I did put a post on the group and it got deleted by admin, saying “sales posts only” but also they tried to contact him and got no response.
I’ve also gone back into the auction post and tagged him saying check your messages
It could become a thing where days/weeks/months later he reaches out and tries to tag you with negative feedback (in whatever form that can take via the group). In that situation all you can explain is what you did and how you tried to reach out/expediate the situation.
Can you just directly refund the money to him via PayID without any communication from his end. (Sorry, I am not familiar how that works). It may be the easiest way to resolve the situation and give you peace of mind, even if you take a small monetary (fees?) loss and loss of time.
