I don't know how many of these have been made before, but I'm guessing a few, not many with polls though!! I'm just intersted to know the history of basketball in our own forum members lives!! Feel free to give your stories and past experiences, even post the teams you played for, championships won etc.

under 16's/18's div 1 93-95
A.I.S(canberra)95+96
div 2 mens social (the warbuls) greatest championship team ever:)
now i just muck around with my kids and play a few competitive games with mt mates every now and then..........getting too old and too many injuries:(

Played in some rep carnivals with other country teams and bigger centres like Toowoomba and Townsville. Career highlight may have been when John Rillie told me he "liked my 3's" I hit during a game he was watching. I never played against him (except for cricket) but as a junior he was a freak on the court.

mine is mostly pickup games but played a fair bit of club ball aswell...never played any rep games coz my game wasnt suited for that type of thing ;)

highlight of my career was playing a game against ex-nbl player Justin Cass...

I just replied to this but internet explorer crashed...

very briefly again, I selected rep basketball, but I could have selected metro/country - but that was only one tournament.

during HS I played a lot of social/club games and street ball. Also was in the 1st grade school team - we went undefeated.

after high school kept up the ball, but a little less street ball stuff (by street ball I dont mean flashy moves, I mean going down to courts and schooling guys like that in fundamentals) I also made the U22's Youth League side and we also played in the NSW Mens State Championships.

It was all good fun, but we did a lot of drinking and I wanted to finish uni off so I stopped after 3 years.

Now I play 2 games a week socially. I enjoy using my experiences to help others out. Im getting a bit sick of being played box and 1! especially in meaningless games!

Played high school ball 1sts from yr 10-12, and played a few games in the under 18's state basketball comp. Just play socially now, but it pretty competitive!

I played 3rd and 2nd division here in new zealand and went through summer league with the auckland stars first division squad which was fun. Gave up to have a family but now I will probarly play third division this year again if all goes to plan.

My highlight is easily a West Coast USA tour with a NSW Country team when I was about 14. It wasn't a true NSW Country team, as you had to pay for the trip yourself, but players were selected out of NSW regional rep sides, and if you could afford to go then you went.

We started in San Francisco, and did a bus tour stopping at different small towns in California and Oregon where we would be billeted out to local families who had players at the local school. We would play the local high schools then move on to the next town.

After about two weeks we then flew out of Seattle to Los Angeles where we had free time and then onto Honolulu then home.

It was definitely a great experience.

More on my history -
Played rep for Nunawading Spectres until about u/12s, then moved up to Nelson Bay where I played rep for Newcastle until u/18s. The played for Nelson Bay for a couple of years. Since then I have just played in social competitions in Nelson Bay, North Sydney, Sutherland and now on the Central Coast. Played one game this year, hurt my knee with two mins to go and am now resting it until its healthy and I can come back.

Cheers
Rick

I can't vote for any of those options - I played most of my baskeball for the Defence Force (Interservice) :)

I guess I was representing the RAAF so it would be considered Representative Basketball ?!?

Dude, national u/14's isn't easy!!

going to nationals at any age group is pretty hard!!

Yeah I agree but it hardly counts !

I averaged 96 with the bat during my junior years of cricket but couldn't get past number 10 in A Grade as a senior - I turned into a bowler !

My point is Juniors is not looked upon as "making it" in any sport but if you want to count National Juniors as being a National Basketball player and it gets you to sleep at night then go for it (tic) :p

just to lighten up the post

my only official bball exp was at the easter show one year with my mates (3 on 3)
we all had jeans on and decided lets enter. I drained 3 3pts and we won , we didnt make the next round as there were to many entrants and our opponents scored more than the other opponents. So lets see:
undefeated
100% shooting

perfect time to retire.

hahaha well we know you've had a great career man, 100% winning streak and 100% FG's & 3PT's!! As well as being 100% on clutch shots and game winners!!

i still laugh at the experience and what could have been. I'm about 5.10 175cm, (i always thought i was too short for bball , does that mean the majority hear are 6ft+ ?
