What ever happened to Quincy Pondexter....

What was it that attracted you to him Skip?
I bet it was the name:)

Just before I was looking for a new guy to PC I returned from a trip to the USA. The start of that trip started in 'the valley' (Fresno), went up the coast all the way to Washington (I had a quick look at the uni) and I noticed Quincy played his High School ball in Fresno and went to Washington U so that was a freaky little coincidence. Plus he wears the best number in the world being #20... ;) On top of all that the more I read about him he seemed like a grounded guy with a sensible head on his shoulders who didn't buy into his own hype etc. A great teammate, does all the 1%ers, hustles, plays D and has had some really amazing plays because he always has his head in the game and is a really smart player. A team first sort of guy. Really steps it up come playoffs time. The guy you'd want next to you in the trenches....

Tough run! what a beast if he makes it back from that though!

One reason I like the bloke is that he's really down to earth and gets the most out of his ability through grinding. I can only imagine the pressure team Drs and the front office place on players to make a comeback... If anything it makes me respect the guy even more!

I was reading thRough expecting a "Pelicans doctors misdiagnosed a..." or some doctor error because it seems like a lot of bad stuff surround the doctors for the NFL team (Saints?) who are same doctors for the NBA team since its same owner? Had you heard anything? Maybe I'm just confusing a different team, I should look it up lol

Great article. I had wondered why I hadnt heard from him in a minute but glad to hear he is still in the league and I will be interested to see how he does on the garbage bulls team. Hopefully he gets decent minutes.

Long live the Q-Pon PC!

Somebody f&^(d up somewhere along the line! I know in the past the Bulls Drs were particularly bad about pushing player to return early and play injured etc. Haven't heard anything specific about the Pels Drs but it wouldn't surprise me. Accusations about skipping practice and the like from the head coach about one of the most professional, hard working and well liked players in the league makes no sense whatsoever. It all sounds like a predetermined play at something and then to ship him off with a second rounder for luxury tax relief is the icing on the cake. I hope he makes a full comeback and rubs it in their face.

Bulls are a grabage team and they don't even really have any obvious SFs who should be starting.... Go Q-Pon go!

BUMP! Because the Q-Pon is back in the NBA! Played his first game on that woeful Bulls squad. Logged 11mpg, and nailed 4/6 shots along with two steals and two offensive rebounds (one of the hardest stats to get in modern basketball).

As an interesting side story for those who aren't aware, he played high school basketball with Brook and Robin Lopez (now his Bulls teammate) and another 3 seasons with Justin Holiday as his college teammate on the Washington Huskies (another Bulls teammate). Despite that, the Bulls still suck....

Okay, admittedly some garbage time stats there in the fourth but meaningful minutes in the second quarter and still hustling and giving it his all. With his trade to the Bulls with a second rounder to basically give the Pels some additional cap space (when New Orleans was in desperate need of swingmen) I honestly thought the odds of his come back were done. Never doubt the Q-Pon! Just really happy for him to have made it back, a high character bloke with one helluva work ethic! Chalk one up for the good guys!

Pretty good read, sums the guy up pretty well. In an age where NBA players are whinging about being the #1 option, playing out of position, seeking a better contract, their team not being in title contention etc. Stories like this put everything back into context, it's all about doing things 'for the love of the game' and remembering to look at the bigger picture.
