I know this may be a highly contentious topic, but I was wondering if I could get some advice here on how old the card would have to be for it to lose value, but wouldn't mind hearing people's opinions on signed inserts etc (in my opinion, I think it's terrible).

Each to their own. I love IP's. I get 3 or 4 of each card (takes longer to get that many of the really expensive ones). So for me, it's a great idea to get IP's on one of the 3 or 4. I know people rant about value. But the truth is, they're my cards, and I'll never sell them, and if I do, it won't be my IP ones, because they're my favourites. My team goes back to 1995. So it's not a long time ago. But if they were a team in the 60's, I'd chase the IP's just as much. Irrelevent of age. I won't show pictures of my signed LLB it hurts so many people to see that!

Im with you M, its all about your own collection. We are not in it for the money. Love seeing the mojos signed.

Most expensive cards ive got signed would also have to be the LLB Cowboys (signed by Scott & JT)

Some people will carry on about it devalues the cards and the other half will say it adds value. Dont listen to either, do what pleases you

I have some sigs. I just don't have time, and with kids, the inclination. And I don't buy them.

To me, value is in the eye of the beholder though. If someone wants to pay $75 for a Meninga 1990 then you have to be safe and secure in provenance. And players are suss to multi sigs on same cards now so it kind of spoils the fun a bit.

I don't buy IPs. I prefer to get my own but have traded a couple and have been gifted a couple more which I really appreciated.

I know and see a couple of regulars on here do their IPs and I admire their perseverance and collections. It's hard work. And they don't sell either, trade only.

So, for me, IPs are worthless unless in my PC.

I think if you got a League Sensation a FF or TP card signed IP it would loose value

I agree with what the others have posted here I personally believe IPs should be about your personal collection and I don't really like people trying to profit from selling IPs.
