Hi guys,

I saw this beauty on ebay yesterday - not being a big NRL fan myself at all I would think this is a big candidate for "best NRL auto ever"?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2003-nrl-Select-XL-Legend-Signature-Redemption-card-Norm-Provan-Arthur-Summons-/280826375330?pt=AU_NRL_Rugby_League_Merchandise&hash=item41628e6ca2

Does this card pop up often? What price is fair or does it not pop up much so you really need to pay whatever is being asked?

I'm interested to ask the experts here: what do you rate as the top 5 NRL cards in ranking of desirability/rarity?

Pics would be great!

Brad

bro i think the 2009 Select NRL Captains Darren Lockyer signature card is right up in the top 5 cards of all time.... Also this might sound strange but if you can get a complete set of 1996 Dynamic Marketing Signature Gold signature cards with blue certs you standing on a gold mine....

Hey Brad $750 is reasonable for that card. Knowing your collection i am assuming you mean high end sigs when you say best.
Here is my list.

2000 Reg Gasnier Legend Signature
2004 Andrew Johns Captains Signature
2002 John Raper Legend Signature
2005 Arthur Beetson Legend Signature
2003 Provan/Summons Legend Duo Signature

Notable Omissions
All of the 2008 Immortals Signatures
2001 Graeme Langlands Legend Signature
2004 Brad Fittler Captains Signature
2009 Darren Lockyer Captains Signature
2003 Darren Lockyer Jersey Signature

I pretty much agree with Justin's list, however i would drop John's to the bench for the 2001 Langlands Legend Signature.

Tough to leave Locky off but he is just retired and Gasnier, Raper, Beetson, Provan/Summons are certified legends of the game.

The thing i dont like about Langlands is his signature. You could have the cleanest design in the world but his sig would just make it look messy.

Some great input there fellas, thanks for taking the time to help out. The Provan/Summons photo is iconic across all Australian sport not just rugby league, hence my interest in the card. Many of you guys on here already got it tucked away in your PCs?

Just wondering has a decent Lewis or Meninga auto been done yet? I assume there is no dual as it would have to be appearing on your lists, but have either got many/any redemption autos? They are two monster names not appearing in any of your lists...

Wally is in the 2008 Centenary signature redemption set and Mal has a signature card in the 2008 Centenary Masters Set.

Both Queenslanders Brad.....bahhhhh

Ha ha ha quick put the lid back on the can of worms before the Qld v NSW argument comes out!!!

I see there was a Provan/Summons dual also in the 2008 Centenary set but with it being /250 clearly not as rare...although probably a nicer design.

Yeah your right but its a bigger card. Half an A4 page - whatever that is.

I have both and personally prefer the 2003.

You'd be mad to keep the Johns captain sig off the list ... just because he's not an old-timer doesn't mean he wasn't the best player of all time ... and when it's numbered out of 40, you can't get a more desirable card than that.

andrew johns isn,t a pimple on wallys butt vastly overated .but heaven forbid putting down a newsouth wales player.maybe seeing as how crap you boys have been in origin you can get him to make a comeback ha ha

I'm a Kiwi mate, I couldn't care less which state he came from.

The card shown on my profile pic would not make the top ten, maybe not even the top 20 but it is still my favourite because Daley is a true legend of the game!
