Exq Auto Patches rule!
Well, like many out there in the hobby, everyone is trying to pull that magical card from a pack. Many, like me, always wanted to pull an MJ auto.
Back in Jan 06....... after 15 plus years...... and determined as ever....... I ended up buying that magical box. I still remember it like yesterday, after pulling nothing from boxes from the Phillipnes, the US, Hawai and Australia. Being ripped off on 2 re-sealed boxes, with all the hits taken out. I ventured to China, where I managed to do what I had been trying to do since I started collecting cards. Pull my first ever MJ auto
Out of a box of SPGU, I flipped over my redmeption card, and there it was. MJ Auto. Taking a closer look, it was even better, it was the SP version. Man, I even kept the magical box in my draw till this day!
So, I redeemed it straight away, only to see he hadn't signed them yet. Man, so excited and couldn't wait for it to arrive. Logged onto Upperdeck, just to see what the card design was like, and was so happy it looked great, and, it was an on card auto.
Next thing you know, days passed by. Still nothing.
A month rolled by, nothing.
3 months rolled by, and still nothing.
Then, it became clear, after reading people's posts and stuff, that UD as a serious redemption problem :-(
So I drop an e-mail to the customer service guys, just asking how much longer it would be before his airness signed. I never got a reply......
Sent out another one, didn't get a reply either.
This went on for about 10 months....... 37 un-answered responses....... I was horrified and just new I was in all sorts of trouble.
UD saw it fit to answer so many others people's e-mails in a timely manner, but in 10 months, couldn't respond to me once. And get this, I wasn't asking for a replacement. I wasn't being rude or anything like that. Yet, it was clear that they would just answer everyone elses e-mails, replace their items etc etc but couldn't even respond to my question.
After displaying my displeasure and sadness about this in a post, someone mentioned I should be getting all mad and stuff. Instead of being nice. And that Chris Carlin should be contacted.
So one day in November, I had just about enough after seeing another person get a response and a replacement order soon after, and yes, still no reply to any one of my e-mails. I send 1 final e-mail, about my situation above, how I don't want a replacement, why do you ignore me for 10 months yet respond to others, I'm so unhappy etc etc.
Next day I get a reponse!!!! And guess who responds, Chris in all people.
he basically told me he had no "non sticker" MJ auto's left to give me, and told me to wait on a bit longer and was sorry about all this.
After waiting for 10 months, I was just happy that he had the decency to reply back to me. And I told him this.
Anyway, on Wednesday I get back from work and I see this huge box in my room. I'm like, what the heck, I didn't by anything this big? Mum tells me it was couriered to me and it was so light, it was like it was empty!
I look at the label and who it was from, UD!!!!! I'm thinking, man, shipping must be on special nowadays to send a card like this.
So I log on at night to see what got redeemed, and to my horror, my beloved MY auto that I had waited on so long had been replaced!!!!
NO communication to tell me this.
NO e-mail to say to expect something in the mail, like the usual redemptions you get.
Lets just get ignored again one more time for good measure.
After seeing all the horrid "replacements" stories, of how people got lumped with something that wasn't even close to what they redeemed, and even worst, cards that didn't even compare in value. So many nasty things ran through my head, I just didn't want to know what UD did to me. I just threw the box next to the garbe bin and left it as that. I just didn't want to know.
So on Chinese New Year eve, was doing a bit of cleaning about the room, and saw that darn UD box next to my bin again. And thought, I had had a bad year as it is, and not opening it up until tomorrow as a fresh start.
So I opened up the box, and it was full of a heap of bubble wrap. Which would explain why it felt so light and nothing was in it. Not like a single card would be heavy, but you know what I mean.
So I get to another box, and opened it up and saw:
Oh crap! They send me a plain MJ jersey for my troubles and greif. Gee whiz, thanks for that.
I stare at the box again, and great work again, I didn't even get a letter or anything apologising for what happened, like everyone else did.
I figured, it was typical, if they ignored me for over a year, why would they speak to me now. Sorry Mr Lee for ignoring you for a year, and keeping my hopes up on the MJ auto card, but here's a MJ jersey for you....
Then, I flipped the jersey around:
Oh thank goodness, it's signed:
Man, my SP MJ auto has turned into not so SP :-(
Oh well, at least I got my non sticker MJ auto and real looks neat.
Hang on, it sort of looks different to the normal auto jersey.
Then I saw this:
MJ Carreer
This made me more happy, and at least is some what different to an ordinary auto jersey. I was just happy to get my first ever MJ auto pull, and it was rather special with the unique tag on the front of the jersey.
I'm still a tad bit upset I didn't get a letter saying sorry for all the troubles, we had to replace your item etc etc. Not to mention it isn't Sp'ed as low as my actual MJ auto I pulled. But am just glad it worked out (They actually remembered I didn't want a sticker auto because of my situation) in the end and I got what I wanted, a non sticker MJ auto, and more importantly, my first ever MJ auto pull!!!!!
The auntentication is real neat, as it's a "pen cam". I logged onto upperdeck, and it shows MJ signing the actual jersey, sweetness

.my personal opinion is that i would prefer the signed jersey to a signed card.see good things come to those that wait.and what a good start for the chinese new year.
