i just watched a game from a few weeks ago between Celts & Wiz... gee their deficiencies become clearly apparent and their record is very understandable
they are:
- very selfish and self centered... me first mentality/attitude - nick young perfect example of this, no team needs players like this - yes he has skills but doesnt know how and when to use them... just so trigger happy
- many of the young guys dont understand the nba game or what makes the great players tick, they just go through the motions thinking they've made it just by being in the league
- they have an arrogant swagger - andre blatche - im not sure what reason they have to be confident
- in another game javeel mcgee during the third qtr with the wiz down 8 he throws and alley oop to himself off the backboard on the fastbreak - immaturity
- so much talent but dont know how to harness it... john wall plays out of control too much and needs to learn how to use his speed to his advantage more...
- i thought they would be fun to watch due to wall, mcgee and co but gee i was sorely disappointed
- the difference between the wiz and celts when it comes to teamwork and ball movement is incredible
i am a massive advocate of performance based contracts for nba players and not being able to get huge contracts based on potential or on a small snippet of one season... teams like the wizards continue to reinforce my view in my own mind
he didnt play a helluva lot of minutes in the game i watched so hard to say but from what i did see he seemed to not understand where he needs to be positioned on the floor, understandable though as a rookie and for a euro player... hopefully he picks the game up and become a valuable contributor
And it's a shame. I had big things for the Wiz this season with Wall, McGee and Young at their core. I was thinking the Wizards would finish about 10th in the east....I was wrong. John Wall also commits too many turnovers. McGee is immature. Young shoots too many silly shots. This team needs to make some moves. The coach has already been fired. Everything that could of gone wrong has gone wrong. I really do feel sorry for them and their fans
like rashard lewis said when he went there... 'im now a veteran'... very pore example of one... but what the wiz need are some disciplined veterans and some experienced coaching staff, throw a Garnett, Billups, Duncan type and a coach with some long NBA experince and not afraid to cut players and they would be a very different team...
