Hi everyone,
I'm visiting the Gold Coast next week and was wondering if anyone knows of any shops/market stalls on The GC? I've been told Shane at Carrara has closed down.

Hi Cam,thats right they have finished up but he was going to sell off the net with his own shop. Not really anything up here at all maybe best to give redtorana a pm and ask him.Could be a good business interest for someone though to start as the population is ever climbing up here with more from the south coming up,it would have to take off seems each state has a decent card shop would be a big consideration especially if the cruise ship terminal goes ahead the whole precinct will be international-massive.
If a shop at the markets doesn't work, I doubt something with high overheads like in a terminal or shopping centre would. I would love a card shop up here and if I won lotto I would open one but the only way I see it happening is in a large newsagent or another similar business that is already profitable, where a decent card area could replace an area that wasnt profitable and someone could rent out that area on a short term basis and not be in "too deep".... Mind you there are enough shops full of garbage at the Carrara markets that I never see anyone in and I believe it would work there with the right mix (inc. non card but still hobby subject related stuff - sport/gaming/non-sport).... The shop that was there was not very appealing, very cluttered, faded memorabilia etc, over priced singles and terrible out dated wax selection. I remember walking in around 2-3 years ago when DA's used to have heaps of stuff really cheap, both current and 90's NBA boxes such as Prestige blasters for $8 (prior to Linsanity) and thinking "why isnt any of this here for $20-$25 a pop?" However, neithe of these ideas would allow for gaming nights with entry fees that I believe can be a good revenue raiser

Good points mate i hear you, didn't mean a set up at the terminal but close by where not sure. This would need to be fresh-shop,stock the wife and i currently trying to source a couple of investment commercial properties so going to try work on something will be exciting.
If you take the plunge mate, good on ya! Hopefully there is support in the community for it. Only really bust AFL related wax these days but I'll get it from you
