Well I called AusPost today and the lady on the line said my complaint form has been finalised.

I will recieve a Money Order for ****WAIT FOR IT**** $100!!!

So basically having FULL insurance and registered post means jack sh1t!

What is the point of having insurance when the maxium amount payable is $100?

I lose out on $120.

I still have time to lodge a Paypal claim but it will mean the seller will get screwed.

Its better than nothing for sure but if you think having insurance and registering your package means its safe, well think again.

Doesn't insuring the WHOLE amount mean I should get all my money back?

Any Lawers here want to take up my case??

That is hard luck mate...
I think in the small print it says something like insured up to $100 only.

If you want full coverage you gotta pay something like 2 bucks extra.

I can't remember the exact details.

The total Value (Purchase Price and Insured Price) was $180USD which was aprox $220AUD at that time.

AusPost will pay me $100 back.

Doesn't sound right does it?

Wouldn't the claim go thru usps not Aussie post if thats where it was sent from??

I would of thought that was the case and you get the full amount insured for. After all thats why we do it.

They get $100 back.

Hey Chad,

It wasn't sent through USPS.

The mailer had the International reigistered sticker thingy on it and the customs sticker stating the package was insured for $XXX

Then the seller is the one that should be claiming on your behalf and getting the full amount back that it was insured with I thought.

Not you on your end dealing with out post for who you didn't pay for insurance with. What did the seller say??

chad is right, the seller should be chasing up the insurance money to return to you.
if it wasn't insured through aussie post , you will not get your full claim amount back

i would do a paypal claim and say to the seller that he can get his money back through his postal system.
you need to worry about your money, not the seller.

i am in the exact same situation as the seller though, and i can guarantee i will be getting my money back from aussie post:v:

If the seller has all the appropriate paper work...receipt showing registed/insured mail, customs forms etc then they will be covered by Paypal up to $3000 I think it is now.

Hmm..Got home from work today to recieve a letter from AusPost saying a Money order will be sent soon for the lost parcel.

Strange thing is the letter states the track number for the parcel and says its insured. But in another section it states the parcel was insured for $0.00??

Does that mean the seller didnt actually insure it?

Tomorrow is exactly 1 month since I transferred the money via Paypal? Charge Back? How long do I have to use it?

I believe you have 60 days to file a chargeback through paypal.

you have 45 days to file a claim with paypal, just do it now though as it takes 10 days for paypal to go through there "investigation".

from what you have said there it sounds like the seller has just sent it registered post, with no additional insurance.

the seller is covered for up to $3000 by paypal(i think someone else also mentioned this) so IF he has done everything corectly and has receipts then he will get his money back aswell and no-one is out of pocket and there is just a card missing.

paypal allows 45 days, but the time they take to resolve it is up to 30 days, and they use it all in my experience!

Okay..Opened up a dispute on Paypal today.

Also recieved the Money order from Auspost for $100.

I called Auspost today and saying I wasn't happy with the $100 and would ask the seller to get the full amount back. The lady said in that case do not cash the money order and wait till they sort it out overseas.

That gives the seller 20 days from from yesterday to get the $ back from the hongkie post office.

Thanks for the advice. Will keep you guys updated with the progress.
