It is me again. You guys must have thought that I passed out in Las Vegas. Somehow, I managed to drag my sober self from Las Vegas to San Francisco. Man, I have got to say that SF is a very much different place from LV. First, the weather is very much cooler in SF. In fact, when it gets windy, it gets really chilly. Second, there is heaps of Asians here, you would think that you are in Hong Kong!
Lefty's Sports Collectibles must be the biggest card store in the Bay Area. All my local card friends suggested that I visited this store. Transportation in SF is pretty easy. Hint: you will need to find a BART station ( that is what they call their rail system), alight at Milbrae station and is only a short walk from here. I must give 5 out of 5 for the public transport system here, you will never get lost here.
I was first greeted by Bob who is the "store/purchasing manager". First impression of him was that he was geeky or quirky, a typical persona of a card collector. He was rattling off like a bullet train until I told him I was from Australia, he slowed down for me. Through our further conversations, he revealed that he sold cards/boxes to many overseas buyers including several members from the OCT site. Hehehe, I know where some of you are getting your stuff from.
One of the big stand out difference in this store is their high amounts of NFL football content, especially in San Francisco, the 49ers are very much followed team here. Also, in this store, it carries a massive range of Golden State Warriors products. If you are a Golden State fan, you will need to visit here. I managed to buy off a Joe Smith 8x10 autographed photo for only $8. Apparently, Andrew Bogut is going to be the next big thing in Golden State, so watch out!
For those who don't understand why baseball is the biggest sport in America. Just my observation from one of the games I was invited in San Francisco. It was the San Francisco Giants vs Arizona Diamondbacks. An attendance of 42000 capacity crowd showed up. The interesting part is the amount of family attending the games, yes, daughters, mums, wives, grandmothers all attended the games and were cheering the game much more enthusiastically than their male counterparts. It is just a bit unfortunate that the NBA do not have the same kind of feminine support.
Before I sign off, I have attached a couple of impromptu photos taken in the shop. The guy in red is Bob. Feel free to contact him if you have hobby needs. Their website is http://www.leftyssportscards.com/ . His email is bob@leftyssportscards.com

I thought of going there as well during my trip but gave it a miss as it was simply out of the way from everything else. Hope you went to the 2 sports memorabilia store on the strip. I thought they were pretty cool.
I was there in mid-May.....and stayed in one of those tent cabins in Curry village....but it was about 2-3 weeks before they reckon the hantavirus took hold. Apparently authorities were notifying people who stayed there from June 10th to August 24th.
I was notified of the story by a friend in the US....and it just happened to be whilst I was in the middle of a 2 week dose of the flu (at least I think it was the flu!).

I thought about that as well but was told that it wasn't the best time to drive to Yosemite at this time of the year due to the fire danger in place plus some funny flu! Would have loved to done that route actually.
