Loving the signed Lara 375 card Naz....perhaps that is how it was intended to look given rumors it was to be a signature card originally?!

Big call to get the Gilly bat card signed though! Let the debate begin!!

Vivi Vivi Vivi - long live the King! Still a colossus is Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards, what a star he is :-)

I did the Gilly card knowing full well that the purists will castigate me for it. I was very conscious of the fact that it's akin to taking a collectable figurine out of the box and playing with it, but truth be told, even though I spent a small fortune on the batcard, I never did like it. So for me to LOVE it, it had to be signed and now it is!

Does it diminish it's value ... most likely!
Deep down inside, do I care ... nah, not really!

Autographs have always floated my boat. It's like having to choose between a mint in box batmobile, or a batmobile that has been taken out of the box to have Adam West sign it ...... BIFF ... POW ... I know the route I would go!!

The highlight for me was when he saw Joel Garner .... his eyes lit up and he started chanting:

"Hoo Hoo ... Big Dog is in da House"

It was bloody hilarious and cool!!!!

I am generally a purist Naz but I can understand you choosing to deface the Gilly - there is no doubt it is the ugliest $400 cricket card in existence!

Always filthy there was never a Viv signature card made. I do like the 93/94 Viv premier insert signed. That was the first insert I pulled from 93/94 and it looks good With an auto. Nice set that one.

I had some really nice Wisden Cricketers of the Century FDCs with me, but Viv's Manager/Minder said he would only sign the caricature plus one item, so I chose the 93/94 Futera. Like you, I think it's the nicest of all card sets (probably due to nostalgia) and as mentioned above, autographs are what do it for me, so I'm more than willing to deface my most valuable cards for a signature! :)

Hi Naz
I completely agree on the Gilchrist bat card being signed. I got mine signed during the 2005 ashes series over here. I prefer it signed too even if it does knock some value off it in the long run

Agree again with you and Brad on the futera insert of Viv. I have the whole series signed of those with beefy, gower, thommo etc. they are a great card set one of the nicest around

Phew ... relieved to know I'm not the only one to take the plunge with the Gilly Bat Card

Awesome work Naz !! Very envious of your haul !!

I note the Damien Martyn signature, great one as he is probably one of the hardest signatures to get. He never signs anything and often is bloody rude..... end of rant don't want to say anymore lol !!

Again well done !!

Cheers Damian

Funny you should say that Damian and also ties in with what Brad was asking. Damien Martyn was the only guy who "appeared" unhappy to sign. He had gloves on earlier in the day when I asked him and so I had to leave him be. Right at the very end, when most people had gone home, he was leaving the ground when I approached him. He pointed at the stuff he was carrying as an excuse, so I offered to hold them for him and at that very moment a lady approached with her son and asked for a photograph. After she cut in, he looked at me and agreed to sign (so I think he basically found himself in a socially awkward position). Whatever the reason, he was quite polite to me and signed, so I'm happy with the end result.

In addition to the scans I posted up, I got sigs from Scott Styris, Tom Moody (lovely guy), Len Pascoe, Rod Marsh (he didn't recognise me from the SCG and signed both a caricature and a card for me), Daryl Tuffey, Wendel Sailor, Adam Hollioake, Wayne Holdsworth (pity I didn't know he was going to be there, needed a 93/94 Futera signed) and Graeme Hick. Missed Robin Smith :(

Naz, the Viv caricature that you got signed is just.........a-bloody-mazing :)

It's from one of John Ireland's books. You can see now why I'm so passionate about getting some of his unpublished work out there. Cannot wait to share with you guys some of the amazing drawings he's done!
