UFC UFC TOPPS Series 3 - Main Event

Fellow fight fans, with this release just around the corner I was just wondering who was getting involved. Ive noticed the UFC chatter has dried up a bit in the last little while.

Anyone collecting much? Im still getting through round 1 and 2 but I cant help myself. Some pretty cool cards in series 3.

Thought Id try something different this series, so I signed up to a case break on buymmacards.com. Worst case scenario I get the 4th and 5th best cards in the case, hopefully i get the first pick though should be interesting.

ive been collecting a bit of ufc lately. what are the series 3 ones like and when do they come out?

There is the flyer and checklist mate. Althought they have changed the name from uncaged to Main Event. 2 autos and 3 relics per box including an auto relic per box. First time autos from tito, liddell shogun, cro cop and a fair few others. I belive the release date is about the 24th of this month.

Im still going with Round 1 myself, still trying to collect the Top 10 Fights Of 2008 inserts and completing the Mat Relics, im about 8 off the set i believe.

As for Round 2, ive given up on that pretty much. Finished all the inserts and just completed the base set finally.

Will buy a box of Series 3 when they are released. Hopefully its around the price of Round 2 boxes. An auto relic per box sounds sweet, just depends on the names involved really.

I will get a couple of boxes at least of the round 3 stuff. There is after all that sick triple relic Nogueira card.

And theres 5 hits a box, and alot more variety in the types of hits you can get now with the normal autos, Auto Relics, Dual Auto Relics, Jumbo Relic Autos. And the new types of relics with cage piece, fighter worn gear, tapout gear and the triple threat relics.

I emailed cherry collectables about Round 3 and they said they were looking into getting this product in. Hopefully they do and i'll get atleast a couple of boxes there.

I think that they look like they have too much grey on them.
Could be metallic (silver) though on the finished product.
I look forward to getting a relic with a piece of the cage on it, that would be pretty cool!

Yeah i think i read somewhere that pretty much every card was gonna be that metallic/chrome finished look. I know one thing though, A lot of money is gonna be spent by me on a couple of sick and expensive shogun and liddell autos.

If there are some wanderlei, shogun or thiago silva autos in this lot I'll be picking them up!

I just heard back from CherryCollectables. They will be getting boxes in!! I will be definitely ordering from them cbf with the hassles of overseas shipping. And i think if you buy before the release date u get a discount.

Cant wait. The more i look at the checklist the more cards i want.

But one thing is very strange. Theres a few Brian Bowles cards... He is the WEC 135 pound champ atm. I dont get it. The WEC is owned by the same company as the UFC but why would they include only Bowles and over someone like Faber or Aldo.

Ok guys,

Main Event is officially out there, cards are beginning to pop up on ebay and breaks on the youtubes.

Just got an email from CherryCollectables, They are selling boxes for $214.95 + $12 postage, They can knock a bit off the price if they get atleast 8 orders too. But orders need to be in by Friday night, and they will be posted out Mon-Tues.

I'll probably end up getting 2 boxes myself. Just watched a break on Beckett.com and the cards look awesome, One of the new insert sets looks incredible.

Sweet, will go visit my local card guy and see when he is getting them in.

Just had a quick browse through Ebay to look at some of the cards. The cage cards look great. Not a big fan of the text of the fighters names though, bit too fancy i think. Also am not a fan of the autos so far, much rather have them on the bottom of the card like the first 2 series, not on the left centre almost of the card.

Nice to see they are continuing on the Fight Posters and the Top 10 Fights from Round 1.
