Mavsman - Actually, I don't mind the whole BCCG thing. Personally, I find it more appealing to have a "10" on them (plus, they scan better) than to have a gold label 9.5. Don't get me wrong, we all know nothing beats a goold gold label, but I still like the whole BCCG grading thing over other companies. I guess it's a prefernce thing.

No idea on how many RC's the big fella has to be honest, as I guess I never really wanted to chase all of them. I guess I am only looking at picking up the "well known" RC's that are listed in Beckett at the moment.

No - normally much less.

BCCG is Beckett Collectors Club Grading, and im yet to see a card that wasn't a 10.

Geelongfan - Sorry to mislead, it's more like a 10 is a 9 or higher in BGS form. It's like the poor man's form of BGS.

Hill33 - :-D Ha ha ha Man, I wish it was that easy. If you look on the site of Beckett, they say they go through the same grading process as with the higher end BGS. Except there are no middle grades, and it's like a no frills service. But trust me, it's not a "everything grades a 10" thing

Great cards mate but Hill is right. BCCG actually lower the value of the cards in the slab. BCCG is about 2 grades off the real BGS grades. The two grade or so rule is pretty accepted in the grading community. Even the beckett staff don't rate BCCG and its dodgey grading.

Compare this to a psa or BGS 7 ;-)

All the grading co's have pros and cons. It all depends on what you are grading. I collect vintage so I go with SGC then PSA. I wont really touch a BVG(BGS) graded card as they allow too much for the age and overgrade.

I wont send to BGS anymore and if you search the forum you will know why ;-)

BGS are really only for modern cards and like most companies there have been plenty of backdoor deals done and trimmed cards accepted. There are plenty of threads about it here and ones that I have done to help people out.

All I can tell you is just don't judge a card on the grade. Look VERY carefully at the card still and then decide.

like the slimmer holders .. and they seem to grade fairly as well

The gist of the email basically said what Chad said - BGS is mostly used for modern cards, but won't be getting my business after Chad's 2.5 Bird Auto Episode - and after hearing of a couple of other similar incidents. For me it is PSA all the way. PSA & BGS both grade differently, with BGS taking the back into account more than PSA, but who looks at the back ?

Ive had a PSA10 card not crossover to BGS 9.5, and ive also had a BGS 9.5 not crossover to a PSA10. So I wouldnt say one is better than the other - its really a personal preference thing.

At the end of the day, if you are happy with your cards, then thats all that matters
