Recently on here a member had some cards for sale so i pm'd to ask if they were still available and he messaged back that they were.
I then stated that i would probably be interested in only 2 of the 3 cards for sale.
Next message i get from him stating that he had sold the lot to someone else.
(Pretty sure i know who that was too as they are a bit of a troll on here)
I always let the seller know if i can't do a deal so it was not like this guy was left waiting to hear from me.
You would think to at least ask if i still wanted to buy first or at least state that you did not want to separate them and give the option of saying yes or no.
Is there, or should there be a time limit to hear back from a prospective buyer ?
What are ozcard members thoughts on having a 12 hour limit to hear back from someone and if no contact then sell to the next person ?
Being fairly new to this site i try to adhere to the rules.
Anyway, there is 2 traders i won't be doing anymore deals with.
Sone people don't follow the most basic guidelines for trading on here, what do you think having more rules is going to achieve?
I've had some douche bags sell the cards even after I've messaged saying "I'll take these cards" and getting a response with the total amount. Apparently "I'll take them" isn't the same as "consider these sold and don't sell them to anyone else before i have a chance to pay".
If you are wanting to buy, you should hang around until you get a committed response from the seller.
I'm sure that if the seller thought it was as good as a done deal, they would wait, so perhaps they thought you were just asking questions at first, meaning there was no commitment to buy???
Just thinking 12 hours as someone may have to go to work and not able to respond right away.
My wife buys and sells on an online garage sale site and the 12 hour rule works well.
If you want the item you write sold on the item.
Seller gives you 12 hours to commit to the sale and if no contact is made in that time frame then it goes to the next person or is put up again for sale.
Sold should be written on the thread and not through pm's.
Pm's should or could be used only for questions about items.
That way everyone can see if the items or cards are still available or not.
I agree. There definitely needs to be some trading etiquette. I was talking with someone on this site about a card that other's were also interested. I told him that I wouldn't be able to pay until last friday at the latest, but if others were interested, he could sell it to them. I made it clear I'd be paying via bank deposit and not paypal as he said paypal preferred (basically meaning not necessarily). He comes back and says paypal only. Turns out he lives overseas but there is nothing in his profile indicating where he's from. He got the shi'ites with me because he was waiting on me to pay. Hello?! I told him straight off that if other were interested he could sell it to them instead!! what is so hard to understand about that? So i just told him that he should indicate in his profile that he is from overseas (common courtesy) and that he had no right to get narky with me just because he decided to wait.

I have a perfect example of pure rudeness, and yes I will say who it is.
Agreed to a price of a card that blazers_fan9 had for sale and he wrote up a deal.
Before I had time to agree to it, he pmed me saying he got a better offer and sold it to someone else, and canceled the deal thread.
Never will deal with again, and recommend everyone to do the same.
