You’ll have to forgive Minnesota native Brian Bolanda if he’s unable to take your calls tomorrow evening. He’s going to be kind of busy rubbing elbows with Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns. Bolanda, a resident of Apple Valley, Minn., won the Grand Prize in the inaugural Panini NBA Player of the Day hobby promotion last spring. Tomorrow, he gets to claim his prize by spending some quality time with Towns, the 2016 NBA Rookie of the Year.
Bolanda’s grand-prize event will begin at the Apple Valley Community Center, where Bolanda and 20 friends and family members will host Towns for a private party slated to include, among other things, shooting hoops, meeting and greeting and a Q&A session . From there, the party will move to Bolanda’s local hobby shop, The Ballpark, where the Apple Valley community will get to share in Bolanda’s winnings with a free signing session.
In addition to those festivities, Towns, who collected cards growing up and worked in a trading card shop when he was younger, will spend some quality time with Panini America’s NBA Dunk digital trading card app and busting the first boxes of 2016-17 NBA Hoops Basketball.
Be sure to follow along tomorrow on Panini America’s social media channels and on the @PaniniPOD Twitter handle. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for complete coverage of the big event.
The inaugural Panini NBA Player of the Day promotion was held at 400 hobby shops across the U.S. and Canada earlier this year. In all, nearly 50,000 prizes were awarded to more than 100,000 participants who purchased packs of Panini America NBA trading cards.
