The price of Flawless really has tanked...

I've seen superstar patches /10 go for like $30-$40. It goes to show that there is just too much product and not enough buyers which makes the prices unsustainable. it's great for those looking to buy, but doesn't bode well for those who bust to sell.

the patches are too easy to fake as you have pointed out on the stockton.

bigger buyers/investors are looking for security in the cards they buy and they'd rather pay extra for a logoman or a patch that is impossible to fake

marvich is a bad example imo. his patches are scarce, but not like they used to be. the fact the patches are only 2 colours does not help. these patches should have been used in the nobility set. i am not a betting guy but willing to bet it would go way north of $2k

or buy to flip

I had my eye on the whole set of 'Gem' cards on feebay, diamond, emerald etc. Not the same if they are just red, green glass :(

I like the gem cards, but to be honest I don't care about the gems at all. Must like I don't care about gold cards. I collect basketball cards with basketball related themes and relics. Say the diamonds or gems were from HOF rings or the gold pieces in 24kt gold cards in GS can from championship trophies, then I'd be interested. It's just like manufacture patches in that they might look cool, but they personally don't add any value to the card IMO.
