In fairly short order, Panini America’s Noir Basketball brand has carved out a loyal following among many higher-end hoops collectors by maintaining a sense of sleek sophistication with darker, mood-setting aesthetics and some true calling-card inclusions. It’s a recipe that has, thus far, made the hit-heavy hobby offering a late-season staple. And on Wednesday, the 2016-17 edition arrives to captivate collectors one more time.

If you were lucky enough to be watching last Friday, you got an early glimpse at 2016-17 Noir Basketball live from the floor of the 2017 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot, where group breakers Mojobreak, Blez Brothers, Monster Breaks and Dakota Gaming previewed the product alongside some of the top rookies from the 2017-18 class. The impressive early breaks only served to increase the buzz on this year’s release.

In the Quality Control Gallery that follows, we offer an extended look at some of the cards that surfaced during the recent packout process. On average, each 10-card hobby box of 2016-17 Noir Basketball will deliver seven autograph or memorabilia cards. New for 2016-17 is a Metal Frame subset numbered to just 25.
