MCAP Auto #10 - Sekou Doumbouya
2019-20 Panini Court Kings - Heir Apparent 102/149


Born in Guinea, Doumbouya moved to France as a 1 year old with his Mother, 3 siblings and cousin. Originally a football player, Doumbouya's height hindered his progress and as a 13 year old, standing 2.02m tall he began playing basketball.

At the age of 14 he joined France's Sport Institute and played for their affiliated club in French basketball's third tier, however he was dismissed after 1 season for disciplinary reasons. He then went on to sign a professional contract with Poitiers Basket 86 at the age of 15 in the French 2nd tier and saw regular playing time, earning the 2nd tiers Best Young Player award in his second season. He also was France's leading scorer as the U/18 squad won the FIBA Europe Under 18 Championship.

In 2018, despite having previously signed a contract extension Doumbouya expressed his desire to play in the top French league and ended up signing with Limoges CSP which gave him the opportunity to not only play in the top national league, but also the EuroCup. In his first season he averaged 7.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in the national league and in eight EuroCup appearances, Doumbouya averaged 6.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

After one season with Limoges, Sekou was selected with the 15th pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, becoming the first player to be born in Guinea to make the NBA and was also the youngest player in the association in his rookie year. His first season started off slowly, making 7 appearances off the bench in the team's first 34 games in extremely limited minutes, however in game 35 he got the opportunity to start against the LA Clippers and managed to register a double-double. This started an 8 game run for Sekou where he averaged 14 ppg and 5.25 rpg and featured a massive dunk on Cleveland's Tristian Thompson
After this 8 game run, his production declined and he was only able to put up double digit points once more in the final 24 games, eventually losing his starting spot.

The Pistons, under the management of new GM Troy Weaver, said goodbye to veterans Blake Griffin & Derrick Rose as well as Svi Mykhailiuk by March 2021, making Doumbouya the longest tenured Piston despite still being one of the youngest players in the league and in only his 2nd season. Despite the roster changes, Doumbouya saw his minute, point and rebound averages all decline in his sophomore year as the Pistons finished with 2nd worst record in the NBA.

After an unconvincing Summer League, GM Troy Weaver decided to cut loose the still young & raw Doumbouya, who was the last player on the roster he did not acquire in trading him to Brooklyn along with Jahill Okofor for DeAndre Jordan & 4 2nd round picks. Suddenly Sekou will not only be reunited with Bruce Brown & Blake Griffin but will also have the opportunity to learn from some of the NBA's best including Kevin Durant and have a very good shot at winning a ring.

In his 94 games to date, Doumbouya averages 5.6 points per game & 2.8 rebounds per game. He remains one of the the players around the league whose next few years I will continue to watch with much interest. Good luck Sekou.

Life moves pretty quickly for Sekou. Since the post he was traded to the Rockets, cut and signed by the Lakers on a two-way deal.

MCAP Auto #11 - Austin Daye
2009-10 Panini Crown Royale 039/599


Coming out of high school ranked as the 25th best player in the nation, Californian native Daye committed to Gonzaga. He spent 2 seasons with the Zags and earned WCC All-Freshman honours in his first season and All-WCC Honourable Mentions both years.

The son of former-NBA player Darren Daye (Bullets/Bulls/Celtics), Austin nominated for the 2009 NBA Draft and was selected 15th by the Detroit Pistons, a handful of picks before future All Stars Jrue Holiday & Jeff Teague.

A 6'11" small forward, Daye found himself on a veteran Pistons team who had just reloaded in free agency acquiring Charlie Villanueva & Ben Gordon, but was ineligible to make his debut opening night as he was suspended by the Association during pre-season for hitting Milwaukee's Carlos Delfino in the face.

Daye ended up coming off the bench to make 69 appearances his rookie season averaging 5.1 points & 2.5 rebounds as the Pistons failed to make the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade. He continued to progress in his sophomore season increasing his minutes to 20 per game as well as making 16 starts and averaging 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds & 1.1 assists on 40% shooting from beyond the arc on a poor Detroit team.

The delayed start to the 2011 NBA Season due to a lockout saw Daye play in Russia for 2 months with Khimki but returned to the Motor City once the lockout was finished. Upon return he failed to impress new coach Lawrence Frank as he appeared in only 66% of games, and always off the bench. His impressive 3 point shot from the previous season also abandoned him with him shooting only 20% from deep.

In January of the following season the Pistons gave up on Daye, trading him and Tayshaun Prince to the Memphis Grizzlies in a 3 team deal for Jose Calderon (the main piece saw Rudy Gay move to Toronto).

From there Daye floated around the Association for a couple of seasons without making an impact. The Grizz took a look at him for 31 games before letting him walk as a free agent. The Raptors signed him for the 2013-14 season on a 2 year, $2m deal but traded him to the Spurs after only 8 appearances for Nando de Colo. Daye would go on to win a ring in San Antonio that season, but his playoff contribution was limited to 6 minutes & 1 rebound in a first round loss to the Mavericks.

The following season Daye would be cut by the Spurs in January, a week after putting up 22 points in a win over the T-wolves. He was then signed by the Atlanta Hawks after a couple of 10 day contracts, but was again cut after a lowly 8 appearances. His NBA experience would end in Cleveland the following season, cut after 6 pre-season games.

Daye then grabbed his passport and went travelling. Playing for sides in Italy, Bahrain, Turkey & Israel before returning to Italy where he currently ply's his trade in Venice. Since moving to Reyer Venezia, Daye has won the FIBA Europe Cup as well as the Italian League and Cup, named MVP on both occasions.

MCAP Auto #12 - Ben Gordon
2011-12 Panini Preferred - Silhouettes 09/25


Born in London, England to American parents, Gordon relocated back to the States as an infant. A talented player Gordon was ranked as a top 40 recruit coming out of high school and elected to attend UConn.

Gordon spent 3 years at UConn, improving each year. In his junior and final year he set the Big East Tournament Record with 81 total points and was named the tournaments Most Outstanding Performer. He would also go on to lead the field as the leading scorer in the NCAA Tournament (127 total points) as the Huskies would be named National Champions in 2004. Following this success he nominated for the 2004 NBA Draft.

Gordon, would be selected 3rd in the Draft by the Chicago Bulls, behind Dwight Howard (1st) and college teammate Emeka Okafor (2nd). He helped the Bulls overcome a horrible 3-14 start to finish 4th in the Eastern Conference. In his rookie year, he came off the bench averaging 15.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg and 2.0 apg whilst earning All-Rookie 1st Team honours and well as the Eastern Conference's Rookie of the Month three times. Most impressively he won the NBA's Sixth Man Award, the first rookie ever to do so mainly thanks to him scoring double figures in the last quarter 21 times during the season (2nd in the NBA behind LeBron James with 22). Chicago would go on to lose in their first playoff series post Michael Jordan 4-2 to the Washington Wizards.

Starting only 3 games in his rookie year, Gordon started just over half of Chicago's games in his second season and continued his upward trajectory. In increased minutes he averaged 16.9 ppg, 2.7 rpg and 3 apg, as well as shooting a career best 43.5% from deep including tying the NBA record for most consecutive three pointers made in a game with 9. Chicago once again made the playoffs and once again were bounced in the first round in 6 games, this time to eventual champions, the Miami Heat. Gordon started hot in the playoffs, putting up 35 points in Game 1 but he cooled for the remainder of the series, still managing to average 21 ppg in the process.

The shooting guard made a leap in his third season in the league, putting up 21.4 ppg, 3.1 rpg & 3.6 apg, although turnovers continued to plague him (as they did throughout his career). Gordon managed to score a career high 48 points in a game during this season and the Bulls once again went back to the playoffs. Once again they would meet the Miami Heat, however the result would be different this time as the Bulls swept Miami for their first playoff series win since 1998. Their sweep of the Heat saw them become the first team in NBA history to sweep the defending champs in the first round. Gordon would average over 25 ppg for the series, however this dropped to 17 ppg as they were eliminated by the Pistons in 6 games.

Before the start of the 2007-08 season Gordon turned down a contract extension with the Bulls believing he could make more in free agency. With high expectations after two straight playoff appearances, the Bulls spluttered to a 33-49 record with Gordon putting up 18.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg & 3.0 apg. The franchise then received a gift, winning the NBA Draft lottery with just a 1.7% chance however the news would not be necessarily good for Gordon with questions being raised as to how he would fit in around the score first PG draft pick Derrick Rose. Gordon would also have to settle for a 1 year $6.4m qualifying offer as he was unable to secure the contract he was looking for.

Led by Rose & Gordon the Bulls went on a late run to finish 41-41 and sneak into the playoffs as the 7th seed, matched up against the defending champion Boston Celtics in one of the most memorable first round matchups in recent history. The Bulls pushed the Celtics to 7 games in a series that featured 7 OT periods and 5 games decided by a bucket. Gordon went off for 42 in Game 2 (a game that did not feature OT) and led the Bulls in playoff scoring.


Coming off the back of the series, Gordon signed a 5 year $58m deal with the Detroit Pistons in a 6th man role and his career would never recover. Gordon would average only 13.8 ppg (less than his rookie year) and his three point shooting fell off a cliff. Having previously never shot below 40%, it fell to 32.1% as the Pistons struggled.

His deep shot returned above 40% the following seasons in Detroit but his scoring averages continued to fall to new lows as the Ben Gordon/Charlie Villanueva experiment went badly wrong in the Motor City. After 3 seasons in Detroit, the Pistons traded Gordon with a future 1st round pick to Charlotte for a washed up Corey Maggette.

Gordon came exclusively off the bench for the Bobcats. In his first year in Charlotte he averaged 11.2 ppg, shooting 38.7% from deep, however the following season it fell to 5.2 ppg & 27.6% and he was waived in March after 19 games. The following season the Magic signed Gordon to a 2 year, $9m deal but was waived after 1 season. The Warriors then picked him up but he was once again waived after 2 pre-season games, ending his NBA career.

Overall he averaged 14.9 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.5apg, 2.1 turnovers pg and a career average of 40.1% from deep.

Sadly Gordon has gone further down hill post-NBA career. Despite finally representing Great Britain in the 2017 EuroBasket qualifiers and also playing in the D League for the Texas Legends his story is since marred with incidents. In June 2017 he was arrested in his Los Angeles apartment after pulling several firearms. Later that year in October, police were called to his business for an altercation with a woman and found the woman in tears and shaking whilst Gordon was spotted holding a boxcutter. Gordon was not arrested but was hospitalised for psychiatric evaluation. The following month Gordon was once again arrested on a felony robbery charge as Gordon allegedly punched his apartment manager, as well as pulling a knife and taking money from him, which Gordon claims was his security deposit. A week previous he was arrested in Manhattan for driving with a forged license plate.

In 2020, Gordon disclosed being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and suffering with his mental health, including a suicide attempt in an article he penned on The Players Tribune entitled "Where is My Mind?".

Let's hope Ben Gordon continues to work through his issues and the dark times of the recent past, are just that, the past.

MCAP Auto #13 - Luigi Datome
2013-14 Panini Innovation - Rookies Main Exhibit Signatures 255/299


‘Gigi’ Datome started his career playing in his native Italy, winning the league at just 17 years old. As a 21 year old he nominated for the 2009 NBA Draft but was passed over.

He continued playing for Virtus Roma until he was named league MVP in 2013 at which point he was signed by the Pistons on a 2 year, $3.5m deal.

The small forward came off the bench for the Pistons in 34 games his rookie season but struggled to make an impact, averaging 2.4 ppg, 1.4 rpg on 35% shooting and less than 18% from range.

The Pistons dealt Datome after just a further 3 appearances to the Celtics along with Jonas Jerebko in order to bring home Tayahaun Prince.

In Boston, Gigi found his shooting range and gave a better account of himself. He only made 18 appearances but started their last regular season game and put up 22 points which led to him getting some burn in the playoffs as they were swept in the first round.

At the end of the season he headed to Turkey to play for Fenerbahce where he spent 5 years winning a host of individual and team honours, including MVP twice.

In 2020 he headed back to Italy and joined Olimpia Milano where he continues to play today.

His NBA career stands at 55 games, 3.4 ppg & 1.4 rpg.

MCAP Auto #14 - Terrico White
2010-11 Panini Classics 461/699


Terrico White elected to play college ball at Ole Miss and was named SEC Rookie of the Year as their starting PG. Before starting his sophomore season, he was a member of Team USA's gold medal U/19 team at the 2009 World Championships. After another successful season with the Rebels he nominated for the 2010 NBA Draft.

The Pistons selected White with the 36th pick in the draft, however after a decent Summer League where he averaged 9.6 ppg, he broke a metatarsal in his foot during their first pre-season game and would miss the entire season. Despite getting himself fit again, White was cut at the end of the lockout by Detroit. He played pre-season with the New Orleans Pelicans but was once again cut due to back issues.

White then found himself in the D-League, signing with the Idaho Stampede, playing 18 games before being ruled out for the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his back.

Terrico then toured Europe playing in Serbia, Turkey, Israel & Russia in between Summer League stints or pre-seasons with Dallas, Memphis & Phoneix.

In 2016 he started playing in South Korea with the Seoul SK Knights where he won the championship and Finals MVP in his second season. He then moved to the Perth Wildcats where he won back-to-back championships, including Finals MVP in his first season. In between seasons with Perth, he balled out in Bahrain.

Since leaving Perth at the end of the 2019-20 season, he has split time between Puerto Rico & South Korea and is currently playing for Brujos de Guayama.

Very cool project.

MCAP Auto #15 - Michael Curry

Michael Curry played college hoops for Georgia Southern University, putting up 16.6 points per game & 7.0 rebounds per game in his final season as a senior. Although automatically eligible for the 1990 NBA Draft, he was not selected and headed to Germany where he spent a season with Steiner Bayreuth.

Following a season in Europe he returned to the States playing in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for the Capital Region Pontiacs & the United States Basketball League (USBL) with the Long Island Surf.

In October 1993, the Philadelphia 76ers signed Curry as a free agent, but he was cut in late December after making 10 appearances. Rejected by the NBA, Curry headed back to Europe playing with Pallacanestro Cantù in Italy and then CB Girona in Spain. In 1995, he returned to America and the CBA with the Omaha Racers.

In 1996 the Washington Bullets gave Curry his second chance in the NBA signing him to a 10 day contract, but it was his 3rd 10 day contract with the Pistons just a few weeks later where he caught on. He ended up playing 41 games for Detroit off the bench averaging just under 5 ppg as a shooting guard with the Pistons subsequently re-signing him for the 1996/97 season.

The following season Curry signed a 2 year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, putting up a career best 6.6 ppg in the first year. At the end of his 2 year spell in Milwaukee he re-signed with the Pistons on a 5 year, $12m contract and found himself regularly starting at the 2 and later the 3 thanks to his leadership, defense and effort.

The Pistons traded Curry before the 2003/04 season to Toronto in exchange for Lindsay Hunter, meaning the 35 year old would miss out on a ring as the Pistons went on to win the Championship with Hunter coming off the bench. Curry saw out the final year of his deal with the Raptors and signed with the Indiana Pacers, but only made 18 appearances in his final season as a player.

During his time in the NBA, Curry served as Vice-President & President of the Players Association over a 6 year period from 1999-2005 and was the lead negotiator in two bargaining agreements. He then switched sides becoming NBA Vice-President of Player Development & then Vice-President of Basketball Operations from 2005-2007.

Curry then moved to the Pistons as an assistant coach before becoming head coach the following year, but struggled with a veteran locker room who just traded Championship PG Chauncey Billups for Allen Iverson and he was sacked just 1 year into his 3 year deal.

After Detroit, he spent a few years as an associate head coach with the 76ers and he currently finds himself in the same role with Vanderbilt University.

After fighting hard to get into the Association, Curry spent 11 seasons in the NBA (the majority in Detroit) averaging 4.5 ppg, 1.6 rpg & 1.2 apg across 667 games.

His record as head coach remains as 39-43.

"Slava" Kravtsov started his professional career as an 18 year old at BC Kyiv in his native Ukraine. He nominated for the 2009 NBA Draft, but was not selected and returned to Kyiv. In 2010 he was given the opportunity to play Summer League ball for the Boston Celtics but returned to Ukraine for another couple of seasons, this time with BC Donetsk.

In July 2012 he signed as a free agent for the Detroit Pistons on a multi year deal believed to be approximately 2 years, $3m. He was recruited by GM Joe Dumars as "He’s a young player with good size, rebounding and shot-blocking ability. He will provide us with some quality depth at the center position.”

Slava made 25 appearances off the bench in Detroit averaging 3.1 points & 1.8 rebounds per game in 9 minutes of action. Dumars then traded away Kravtsov along with Brandon Knight & Khris Middleton in order to acquire Brandon Jennings from the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks in turn traded him a month later to the Phoenix Suns along with Ish Smith for Caron Butler.

In his second season in the association Slava played 20 games for the Suns averaging 1.0 points and 0.9 rebounds in 3 minutes per appearance before being waived in March 2014.

He spent 2014-15 in China with with the Foshan Dralions. Milwaukee gave him another opportunity in the 2015 Summer League but it did not reignite his NBA career. He has since spent time hooping in Russia, Spain, Turkey, Japan and is now back in Ukraine with Dnipro.

MCAP Auto #17 - Kyle Singler
2012-13 Panini Elite Series - Rookie Inscriptions Autographs

Singler, played high school basketball for South Medford in his home state of Oregon. As a senior he averaged 29.3 ppg and 10.6 rpg. He led South Medford to it's first ever state championship, defeating Kevin Love's Lake Oswego in the final. He was also named in the U/18 USA National team and was a 2007 McDonald's All American.

He then attended Duke University for his collegiate studies. Starting Power Forward as a freshman, Singler averaged 13.3 ppg & 5.8 rpg as the Blue Devils went 28-6 and were eliminated in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament by West Virginia. As a sophomore Singler was Duke's top scorer averaging 16.5, as they won the ACC Tournament. They also went one step further in the NCAA, this time being eliminated in the Sweet Sixteen by Villanova.

Singler's junior year was littered with accomplishments as the Blue Devils were co-champions in the ACC, won the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament defeating Butler in the final. Singler was named the ACC Tournament MVP and also the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player after averaging 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. For the season he averaged a personal best 17.7 points per game.

Kyle flirted with entering the NBA Draft but ultimately decided to complete his senior year at Duke. They would win their third straight ACC Tournament but were once again eliminated in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament, this time by Arizona. During his time in Cameron, North Carolina, Singler would earn the nickname Bucket Man as he regularly filmed trick shots around campus which were posted online.

Singler was selected with the 33rd pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by Detroit. However due to the NBA lockout signed with Spanish club CB Lucentum Alicante, however after only 10 appearances he was bought by Real Madrid and helped them win the 2012 Spanish King's Cup.
Missing the shortened 2011 NBA season, Singler returned to America for the 2012 NBA Season and earned All-Rookie second team honors after averaging 8.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in 82 games. The following season he once again played 82 games and put up 9.6 ppg and 3.7 rpg in around the same court time.

Midway through his 3rd season with the Pistons, they traded him to OKC along with DJ Augustin and two 2nd round picks in a 3-team trade that netted Detroit Reggie Jackson. Singler found himself down the pecking order in OKC as he was competing for court time with the likes of Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka & Nick Collison. Still the Thunder signed him to a 5 year, $25m contract in 2015. Whilst the team was successful, Bucket Man was not, his playing time decreased each year (even when Durant left for Golden State) and his PPG followed suite. Eventually the OKC Thunder waived him in 2018 and then stretched the remainder of his contract (his contract is still included in their cap today).

Waived by the Thunder, Singler returned to Spain for a couple of seasons before retiring from basketball in 2019 due to personal reasons.

During his stint in the Association he averaged 6.5 ppg & 2.9 rpg in 356 appearances.

MCAP Auto #18 - Alex Acker
2005-06 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection 117/225


Coming out of Pepperdine University, as a junior who made First Team All-WCC, the Detroit Pistons selected Alex Acker with the last pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. The shooting guard scored 9 points in his 5 appearances during his rookie season, registering 35 minutes court time in total.

Following the 2005-06 season, Alex headed to Europe spending a season with Olympiacos in Greece, followed by Barcelona in Spain. He then returned to the NBA, once again signing with the Pistons. Making a further 7 appearances, scoring another 9 points in 20 minutes. Detroit then traded Alex to the Clippers to open up a roster spot in February 2009. Acker averaged 3.5 ppg and 1.2 rpg in his 18 appearances for the Clippers before heading back to Europe.

He has since played in Poland, Turkey & Greece again as well as playing for multiple teams in France & Italy. In 2014 he the Finals MVP as his side Limoges won the French Championship.

He is currently playing for Gallarate in Italy and going by his Instagram comment on my post, has a good sense of humour...

MCAP Auto #19 - Jordan Bone
2019-20 Donruss Optic - Rated Rookies Signatures Choice

Jordan Bone attended The Ensworth School in Nashville, Tennessee where he played high school basketball with James Wiseman. From there he moved on to play his college hoops for the University of Tennessee. He had a breakout season as a junior, averaging 13.5 ppg, 5.8 apg & 3.2 rpg as the team's starting point guard and nominated for the NBA Draft as a result.

Bone was selected with the 57th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Pelicans but was traded to the Detroit Pistons via the 76ers & the Hawks.

He signed a 2 way deal with the Pistons and made 10 appearances in the 19-20 season netting 12 points & 8 assists in his 53 minutes of court time.

The following season he signed a 2 way deal with the Orlando Magic. He played 14 games, averaging 4 ppg, 1.3 apg & 1.7 rpg in 14 minutes per appearance. However the Magic waived him in February 2021. He spent the remainder of the 2020-21 season with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League.

As of August this year, Bone is playing in Turkey for Besiktas where he plays with several other ex-NBA players, the most notable of which is Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

Son of Olympic high jumper Kenny Evans, the 6’3” point guard played college ball at Texas Tech and had an excellent senior year making First Team All Big 12 in 2018 as the Red Raiders lost in the Elite Eight to Villanova.

He nominated for the 2018 NBA Draft, but his name was not called. However, he received a Summer League invite from the Golden State Warriors and later signed a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons. His time in Detroit was short lived however as he was waived in January 2019 without making an NBA appearance.

He was subsequently traded from the Grand Rapids Drive to the Delaware Blue Coats where he played for the remainder of the 2019 season. Evans then headed to Europe, signing with Bosnian and Herzegovinian side Igokea where they won the Adriatic League championship.

Since, Evans has signed with Israeli clubs Hapoel Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he currently plays alongside Ante Zizic & former 2nd overall pick Derrick Williams.
