At least we buck the trend a little here in Aus. I know a lot of high end guys that have constant card turnover. Sure people are impressed by their mailday posts but when you start with $2000 and buy a card, sell it and then buy another $2000 card and then sell that and spend $2000 imo its only one initial high end purchase. Just quietly the dude spending $100 every now and then ends up spending more and having a better pc.
From what I notice most of the stuff posted here or in best card for the year is still in pc's.
actually im like that too, ive only spent over $100 once and that was my most expensive card ive ever bought. next biggest spend wouldve been $45 for a Cmag 1/1.
I admire your restraint I can't recall how many times I have paid >$100 and quiet frankly I probably don't want to! That said, I don't regret it, and I'm now quietly fine tuning into specific collections that will likely not take me above that mark too many more times in the future.
I think thats the difference, i pretty much just brouse the bay and if i like something i will put a low bid in. If i win great if not no loss. Even now and then i will lash out or a Nate or Horace but not very often.
Lately I've been cracking the $500US dollar mark for single cards. I think its a natural progression to spend more and more as you get older. I remember as a kid thinking $1-2 was expensive for cards. Then this grew to $10, $50, $100 etc.
But hey, money isn't everything and as a collector each card I purchase is priceless and I wouldn't part with any of them.
