Well, I'm at work and i'm going through the motions in trying to sort out everything I have to do by COB and just don't know where to begin. Had spent the last 4 nights trying to do everything by the ridiculous time frame my boss had set me.

Anyway, having had enough of all that, I go sorting my mail for the day and started opening them up. Thinking, o.k, cool, that arrived. O.k, cool, that arrived. O.k, what do you want now? O.k, I don't work in that department. Man, what are you on about? Man, it helps to put your policy number on your payment. Do I look like a mind reader?

Anyway,So I get to this package:

I open it up:

Get the scissor action happening again, and pull out it's contents:

Man this is packaged up well.

Get the scissor action again, and pull out the screw down holder:

I couldn't beleive my eyes!
I was like, what the heck?! That can't be right?! I flip up the package again, and saw it was from a member on another forum Tim aka Exquisitecollector.

So I look into the enevlope again, and find this note:

He had given this card to me

Even right now I don't know what to fully say about this gesture from him. As some members already know and have experienced, the lengths that Tim goes to make the hobby so much better for people in the world is simply amazing.
I never thought I would get a Kobe, and had all but given up on it. It just wasn't possible with coinsman around and the market that has been generated by him. And the amount of this card, is something I would never fathom on putting up and was just way too high.
But yet again, he managed to do something that I thought was not possible.

Hope you all enjoy guys,

Mike.

man what a top bloke,at leasts its in your hands and not in that other guys that has the rest.

well done mike

cheers

Mike, its stories like these that really highlight what collecting is all about!

What a legend is Exquisitecollector! Send the guy buying them all up a link to this post  That'll teach him!

wall3ace – Thanks bud :-)
Yes, he certainly is a one in a million bloke :-)
Yeah, I know :-) I’m sure someone will alert him to the fact one day, if not already, that he won’t own all the Kobe’s.

Nash13 – It certainly does bud :-)
I completely agree, it is an unbelievable gesture and am still in disbelief in what has occurred.

scottsophie – Thanks mate, it certainly is :-)
I can assure you, he isn’t crazy. Many people have been fortunate enough to have been on a receiving end of one of his many, many great gestures throughout the time I have seen him post. He goes so far in helping people with their collections from all walks of life, and it’s not just me I can assure you.
He is just one of those people that are in it for the hobby and the love of it, and nothing more.

Funkadelic – Thanks mate :-)
Yes, who would have thought? I certainly didn’t. After the last one went for over $2K US, I knew it was game over for set collectors and people immediately started breaking up their sets and selling them off while they could. So when the next $0.20 listing day comes up on e-bay, you’ll see a heap listed.

tattooed_memu – It certainly is man. And like I said, he does these sort of things regulary. I have seen him help out so many people in the hobby, and it’s always something super special, that white whale or something that a certain collector needs or wants, and he manages to not only find it and get it, but to give it to the person. He truly is a champ.

jimboiitmac – Very true bud. And he practices the same philosophy every single day.

bas – Thanks mate :-) It certainly is, I just couldn’t believe it when I slid the screw down out of the bubble wrap.

mattyj – He certainly is man. If I ever get to complete my other sets, you’ll here more about what he has done for me as well ;-)

tony – Thanks bud :-)
Yes, it truly is. I knew he always did this sort of stuff from other people’s posts, but to be on the receiving end of something like this is absolutely stunning.
How many more to go? Well, with this, I have completed the normal set “technically”. As this card is KB. However, all of them haven’t arrived from around the world yet, so I don’t have them in hand, so until they arrive, I don’t know when, I won’t have the set in hand. But I have technically finished the normal set.
However, there are parrallel’s in the set, and Kobe is one of them. I need that other one (yeah right) to have the absolute full set. But as we all know, it’s never going to happen for anyone. Especially when the current one will break the record again, and go for over $2.5K US, and yes, to coinsman again.

AJ IS SNORING – Thanks man :-) Yes, completely unexpected and truly awesome indeed.

geelongfan – I know, I know and the price will go higher still. Unless he cans the project, after seeing this post or something and decides otherwise. But I’m sure that current Kobe is going to break a $2.5K record and will go to him again.
:-D Ha ha ha ha Good one!
I would have absolutely no problem flipping it to coinsman, and I am sure he would pay way more than what they have been selling for this card. But like Tim, money isn’t everything and more importantly, I don’t move gifts.

blackwind - Thanks bud :-)
Yes, as mentioned above, the normal set is done.
But if I wanted the whole kaboodle, with the parallels, I would have to pay over $5kUS (yes, this is the mark I have set for coinsman limit in his bids, we’ll see if I am right one day ) I would have to find the parallel to this card.
He certainly is mate, and as mentioned above, he has done this many a times in helping so many people in the hobby.

Lippo – Thanks bud :-)
As Tim knew to begin with, I was never chasing the set, as quite frankly (even before I even heard of coinsman and his reputation) I didn’t think it was even possible starting this late after the release date. So, I aimed for 50% and if I one day got there, I would call it a success.
Next thing you know, I am here at this date with 1 card short of doing what so many have tried before and failed. And why? Because of one person whom owns them all and wants them all. And all that had them, have since sold them to him.
I can’t be paying $5k US for this card, I just can’t. There is no way in heck I am ever going to beat him to a sale, and many collectors have sadly realised that now and have broken up there sets and selling while they can. I may do silly things with my money, and paying premiums when need be, but beating coinsman in a bid is not a road I want to go down on.

ace e – You see, that’s what you would think, but it isn’t true. Ever since I met him, all he has ever done was help me in my set/theme chases (along with so many other people). Some of you might remember, but a made a post a few months back on a BG7:

EE-BG-BenGordon02of25.jpg

Yep, gave me that as well for XMAS!!!

I have been privileged to see some of his collection, and I can tell you this, it is out of this world. Seriously. And there is no card I could get him that would be able to help his collection out, trust me on this.
I’m sort of working on a surprise website for him, and if he allows me, I’ll show you all one day when I finish. But he tends to keep his cards private for his personal reason, of which he has told me, and I can clearly see why.
But no, all he has ever done is help people like me and have done nothing in the world to even come close to deserving all these gifts, little lone this Kobe.
But don’t worry, I am as stunned as you, I can assure you.

The Truth – Yes, we certainly could use more of people like him in the hobby I can tell ya.
I ran into a horrible person only a few weeks ago, long story, but it’s the reason on why Tim, along with the super bog collectors out there keep their set chases and projects secret.
:-D Ha ha ha ha You know, I always dreamt of that!!! :-D Ha ha ha ha
But seriously, I have never had beef with coinsman. It’s his game, and he is playing to win, all the time.
Sure it’s sad to see so many people giving up their sets because of this, and whether this takes “multiple chase” collecting too far, everyone has their opinions. But he is playing fairly and there isn’t much people can do, but to bid high. And like I said, I’m sure his breaking point is $5K US. Everyone has theirs, and I’m sure that’s his.

i am really happy for you that you got that card, it is good to see that card went to someone that really needs it in their collection. The person that sent you the card it just unbelievably generous it isn't often you see someone do such a generous deed like that.

wow. this is a unbeleivable gift of him. we all know what these are selling in the last time..and this makes that all more impressive of him
congratulations!!
