Yeh i kinda of hate when they have so many DVD formats. They should just stick ene only......................blu-ray was always gonna to be the choice since nearly all the companies supported that format.
The HD DVD was just as capable of holding a movie in full HD quality as blu ray - so there was no difference in terms of movies, or quality. Storage capacity is the only real difference.

I hear also fella's that HP are going to do away with HD altogether, and their new line of PCs/Notebooks will be Blu-Ray.
Talk about a cheap Blu-Ray player since it's in a PC!
Still, I'm in no rush to want to run out and get one, I'm happy playing our old standard single/dual layer DVDs. When you're only using an 81cm telly, what's the point in going to "crystal clear pictures"....
yeah, it was kinda apparent a while back that sony had won the war with blu-ray, after studios like warner bros stopped catering to HD they were up **** creek. oh well, sont lost the beta max war, they win this one, it all evens out.

Betamax was the superior of the two back then...... & HD-DVD was the superior this time...... seems to be the trend is the sh*t format always wins.... guess it's a game of "whoever pays off who the most" wins.
