Mine is a mere ebay auction away!!!!!. After years of toil on ebay and asking sellers a million questions , i have FINALLY found someone with a bruce morrison card from geelongs premiership year of 1952!!!!!. Who the hell is he?.

He was the full back of geelongs last premiership, (hence my morbid attraction to them~!) he wore guernsey number one and he is my great uncle! (my late dad's - dad's brother). You can see him here :

Im stoked i finally found this, the only problem is that being a 50 yr old card it wont be cheap , the other problem being i have to buy the rest of the set of 12 just to get him but thats ok......Its not listed at the moment, it will be up after 8pm tonight sometime but ill be watching it like a hawk!. Ill post a picture sometime tomorrow.

So for the rest of you i want THE card that means the most to you, and a pic to go along with it, it might be worth nothing but who cares?

Great post, and great story. I hope that you can pick that sucka up, I can see the sentimental value it would hold. (is it the only one he has)?

Not really sure what means the most to me, most likely my Exquisite RC Auto Patch, just cos it's the one that cost the most. lol.

My Charles Barkley PSA 9 Fleer 86-87 RC holds a lot of value to me, as I wanted that for years, and when I got it, I cherrished it.

barkley rookie!.

Yeah ill sell the house to get this so i will win it haha. Its the only card ive found of him in four years and he was only a fullback and they arent that popular so im sure a lot of players were ahead of him at the time but im guessing that there would be a 1951 premiership card of him as well. By the way if anyone knows of anything of him ill buy them right now haha.

And your great-uncle is a Gippslander!!! So many footy champions from down here!!!

haha yeah my whole family were bairnsdale boys!, apparently i picked up my drinking gene from them!. Bruce lives in geelong still....yeah still kickin at 80 odd!. i have a pic soon, they are now listed!

I was hoping it wasnt a caricature type card but beggers cant be choosers i spose. But it has that cool little auto on it so i guess that makes up for it and his signature is ridiculously like mine (except neater!)

Well, I guess the most recent on for me would have to be the following:

I got given this for absolutely no reason at all from a freind I know, just out of the blue. I was so shocked to receive it and was, and still verygrateful about his gesture. He knew I loved auto patches for my non Shaq PC, and just couldn't beleive he sent me the parraell version of this card.

Another one that holds up there would be the following:

I won this card about 2-3 weeks out before the Heat went on to win it all. But the real story was, when I logged into Beckett on-line, I saw an article with my card on the front page. It was part of the biggest sale of the week, so, this one will always be a key stroy peice in my PC.

Oh, and it's numbered 10 of 10 too.

Yep, those Bairnsdale boys can really drink, thats why the new Bairnsdale police station is a 2-5 minute work from 4 of the 6 Bairnsdale pubs...

Im assuming Morrison was retired by 1963, when Geelong won its last premiership, but those 1951 and 1952 Geelong sides were among the best in VFL/AFL history.

Good luck with the cards.

I'd written to him a few times over the years and kept him in touch with my ball. I always wrote with great respect and not just an auto request.

A nice letter never hurts and i've had luck getting autos that others have failed on and don't sign for others. Things like when Tommy Hiensohn's wife was ill i sent a card and letter and when Frank Ramsey lost his house, Red was ill in hospital, Kareem's house burnt down etc etc.

"love Bob Cousy"???

Did you write something "special" in your letter....

Do you reckon it says love? It doesn't look like that to me...but buggered if I can tell what it says...wait a minute....after blowing the pic up, I read it as 'Peace'. Chad loves his Celts, but not like that (well, maybe Bird, that mo....)

The other one says 'best wishes' :-D

And Johnny looked great with the sideburns ;-)

How you love a guy like Thurman who has no neck is beyond me but its your call and tastes. :-P

way back when some of our members weren't even born!!!

Around 1990-91 when I was in grade 6-7 I wrote to some of the VFL (before the AFL existed kids) clubs, telling them that I loved footy and obviously being in Tassie couldn't get to the games and sent my cards from that season to ask if they would sign the cards for me. Below are the results.

A couple of clubs didn't sign the cards, but returned them

One club, DIRTY COLLINGWOOD!!!!! Didn't sign and didn't return a little 11 year olds cards either.....

Most clubs also included a letter (Which I still have all of) some of them written or signed by a player as well.

Couple of Bronwlow medallists, and a legend or 2.

They are great and certainly worth a lot from an era well gone as far as cards and players autos go. LOVE the 'Horse' Longmire card LMAO

I've got a Robbie Flower rookie card from the 70's around here somewhere signed.

Great post mate!

So he played fullback in 1963??
