LOL i missed the wrong ground bit... an oval is an oval.. so if you played the grand final there would that be the excuse? we cant play on that oval.. i like that one.. spose we cant play at aami.. or at the gabba.. or anywhere for that matter...

Good win to the bombers and from what I saw it was a good contest and entertaining to watch. Well done to both teams for attempting to play positive footy

And Melbourne were playing for the exact same as Collingwood (top 4 spot).... I'd prefer to lose to Essendon than Carlton (twice #-o )...

White Choc - as much as i hate to say it, but i think the Bombers will be back in 07' i was impressed with there ability to control the ball and hold off till the right target became available.

As ruckers said Jonno, i would prefer to lose to the Bombers then the Blues.

Hey Justin, I think it will be Collingwood or Melbourne that the WCE play in the first final (at Subiaco).......should be interesteing to see how positions 4-8 pan out !

I know the bombers will be back.. they wont stay down long, they're too talented to do that, and alot of youngsters coming up.. I'm not gonna toot our horn just yet and go into depth, but we where always due for a bad year or 2..

The only team I rate this year as a real contender, are the crows.. then daylight.. then the eagles.. I still like what the doggies have to offer.. should be great september action

The dees have shown this before.. play well, fade off later.. or have a good year.. blither away in the grand final if they think they can get there..

it will be 2000 all over (fat chance) 1999 perhaps... but my money is on another 2004 repeat..

I love being the under dog.. I prefer it that way.. think what you will about the bombers, clearly the pies didn't think much of them

pies were outworked, good game

I still think the pies are dangerous, not flag material, too inconsistent, but they could pull a massive in the first week upset if they fire. and if they make the top 4..

Bombers will be bottom 4 next year, don't worry about that

Mate not everyone thinks they should throw games just to get 1st Pick you know........Thinking along those lines is why the AFL should use the "Lottery" like they use in the NBA !

well until the lottery kicks in or ever comes to the afl, which it wont, BRING US THE PICKS!!!

we didnt throw the game against the hawks, but at the same time i dont think they're concerned... take it as it comes i think, if we win.. great.. if we lose.. we'll only get rewarded come draft time... we can't lose!!

I might also add, if your team was losing in the NBA you'd want #1 pick too.. but in this case, we can gaurentee if we finish last we get #1..

man i had a great reply last night... DAMNIT!! All I'll say now is, cos it's already forgotten about (the game) is that it's no surprise the hawks are winning comes years end.. isn't that the trend every year?

hmm yes.. lost to the bulldogs/blues/dockers all in the dying weeks.. at the time, none of those teams where too crash hot.. all bar the dogs perhaps... they just happened to go on a 8 game losing steak.. hmmmmm.. only we're bad enough to let that happen

The big one the Pies tanked last year was the Round 19 Roos game. They were 4 and a bit goals up with 5 minutes to go in that one and threw it.

i might also say, as much as i love my bombers, and watching them win, and hate the fact they lose, i must point out as much as they can play for pride, they can play (or not play) for the future of the club too.. theres nothing more to gain right now in winning.. play some kids, get some picks.. makes sense..

Mate PROFESSIONAL footballers don't play to lose !

All your talk about the 1st Draft pick isn't going to convince them to lose a game.......Teams DON't go out there to lose - so it doesn't make sense !

well... us and the pies/blues mustn't be professional.. oh well.. we'll get over it... wouldn't be the first time we tanked a game or so.. remember 2001 us against the tigers rnd 22.. as if we'd lose to the tigers and then belt them by 70+ points the week after... (that was to make sure we dont play the blues again in the prelim)

The point is, teams don't go out there to lose......fans like you think they do BUT THEY DON'T. Besides the difference between the 1st & 2nd Draft pick (In the AFL) isn't much at all.....not enough the throw a game for (IMHO).
