He has always been criticized by many.

Thought the last Indian tour was a turning point with most of these criticisms thrown out with the sheer volume of runs, along with the selfless attitude on declaring when he was 329no and then winning the test with more than a day to spare. Check the record books, most of the huge individual scores were scored when the game ended up as a draw. He declared when he could easily have better on to see if he could get the magical 400 & the way he was going, not many would have bet against him getting it too.

The doubters have started again with the injuries, with some labeling him as selfish - what a joke! The bloke is a dead set legend and would never put himself above the team. He is tough alright, not sure how Waugh, Border and Taylor would have gone over the last few weeks.

I hope he gets that hindered today and continues on for years to come.

Someone should put a "glove" in heals mouth,he is starting to grate me along with tubby,they just woffle on,I think they think we don't know anything about the game,as Chris said a couple of international commentators would be a good idea

I've often been puzzled as to why people launch personal attacks on sports people to be honest. I think much of it stems from jealousy - after all, who of us WOULDN'T want to be as successful or respected as Michael Clarke in our respective industry?

Sadly, it is easier to (and apologies for the crassness) sit with one hand on your d*ck and the other on your keyboard in anonymity than actually achieving anything of note yourself. Easier, but not as rewarding or character-building.

This leads me to my favourite quote - one which I attempt to live by in relation to the sporting teams I follow.

"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. Here here,this country always seems to find away to knock our champions,most of these people wouldn't know a thing about cricket,I for one had reservations about Clarke being named captain,but have changed my views over the last couple of years especially as it came with the retirement of a few of our great,reminds me a lot of A.B with that team of 89 "the worst team to tour England"but A.B moulded them into a champion team,which Taylor,Waugh and Ponting then took on

It's been one of those rain marred days…but congrats to both Smith and Clarke who have both been stuck on 98* at rain delays, only to go and get their tons.

Clarke looks in a world of hurt out there, but he is doing his job, batting, and scoring with Smith.

I'm sure someone will say he should have declared and he is being selfish going for his ton, and not putting the team first, but I defy anyone else to do it too.

Michael Clarke today scored his 28th Test century, placing him equal with Younis Khan in 10th place on the list of Test centuries. He now occupies 21st position on the list of all-time Test run scorers.

I'm not sure how much Test match cricket Tubby Taylor has watched in the past couple of months, but the last time Peter Siddle dropped a sitter, the batsman - Misbah ul Haq - went on to score the equal fastest test century at Abu Dhabi.

Peter Siddle has a great set of hands; he would catch 499 out of 500 of those catches!

Bravo Shaun Abbott - 6/14 against Queensland today, bowling NSW to an innings victory. I'm sure even hard-hearted banana benders wouldn't begrudge the young lad something to smile about given the circumstances.

Ben Hilfenhaus has taken 5/11 in South Australia's second innings. The Redbacks are all out for 45, the seventh lowest innings total in Sheffield Shield history.

That said, the important thing for the SA players was to try and get back on the horse and I guess cricket has well and truly been put in perspective over the last couple of weeks.

I really hope the I.C.C crack down on the slow over rates,I think 7 overs lost today and the same yesterday,not good for the batting team and most of all for the paying public.
They would only have to suspend the captain a couple of times and the message would get through
All countries are guilty but some do it a lot and no one does any think about it.
They suspend the captain in one day internationals for not bowling their overs in a allotted time,so why not tests
